I like my netbook...but not ideal for me as my main computer. too small of a screen, etc etc...but maybe she would be OK with that, idk. budget laptop. 2GB of ram really helps iwth windows 7. I got some cheapy netbook, only came with 1 GB of ram ($300), got 2 GB for like $30..and it runs pretty well for what it is. with a budget computer, cleaning up/removing all the BS that comes preloaded is pretty important too I think, so the computer does not run sluggish. | Not Ranked : 0 score I currently fucks with HP. Like your mom, I wanted to stay away from dell, but HP may be a little outside the price range. Either way, HP hasn't failed me yet with my year and a half old laptop. I have also heard decent things about Acer. As long as shes not doing anything crazy with it, you really cant go wrong with any brand I guess. Just look for quality and customer service.

| Not Ranked : 0 score LIke stated above, Asus Eee PC or Acer Netbook with an upgraded 2gb ram card from the standard 1gb that comes with it. I've had great success using Amazon.com and getting them for about $220-$280 during sales.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have a Toshiba NB305 netbook upgraded with 2GB. It's my go-to for almost anything having to do with email, surfing and this forum, of course. If I need speed, then I go to my desktop. I must admit though, that the Toshiba gets much more use than my desktop. I love this little machine. |
