(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked  :   0 score C5 Vette The light turns green, everyone takes off normal, and the only mods I can tell are an exhaust. The van takes a side road so it's just me and the vette for as far as the eye can see. I try to get up next to him slowly so he doesn't hit it before we can set up a legit pull, but he hits it with me at his bumper, so obviously, so do I. I was in third doing ~45 when he went WOT. By the top of third, I had pulled back where he had inch forward from when he got the hit. FFS into fourth and nobody pulled, FFS into 5th and I start inching up to him. He let off at around 120, as did I. I couldn't tell which year it was, as it seems they vary from 350 hp to 400, so I'm guessing it was an earlier C5. Either way, his face was priceless when his "american icon" couldn't pull my little station wagon. Mods are in sig, and I'm still "Jon tuned". Maybe he needed driver mod. Either way, I was as surprised as I was proud. TL; DR, Vette gets the hit, can't pull my pu.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score My roomate has a stock 02 . Its not slow. Its as light as our car and geared better. after 120 you won't catch it. when we race hell can start in first gear on a 40 roll. At 120 I'm about a car behind. I have not raced him in a while. I'll try and record it next time. I'm at about 295 whp fully bolted. After driving his car for a week I gained appreciation for the vette. Shit interior thou

Granted he had his wife in the passenger but when I looked at the specs they put down 330 crank and weight over 3,300lbs.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score Haha... yeah 350hp at the crank... right... most stock M6 C5's put out around 300-320hp to the tires with tuned vettes making around 340-360hp. An M6 vette would walk a pump gas K04 Pu any day. With ethanol it would be a decent race for a stock vette with a Z kicking your ass to the curb.

The faster you go, the harder they pull. I guess that's what you get when your pistons are the size of paint cans. | |

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score Cheap to buy but not to fix. Like old porsches. Parts are still pricey for what they are. I have been tempted many times. If you can work on them yourself you will save a lot. But I guess that is with anything.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score I did not say "all". I was generalizing the fact that older high end cars tend to be expensive to fix, even when they are 10+ years old. But you are right about shopping around. You certainly do not want to take a old zo6 or 911 to the dealer, unless u r ready for anal poundage.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score If you want major power on a seriously limited budget, a fox body Mustang is the only way to go. The car itself is dirt cheap, motors are a dime a dozen, and the aftermarket is flooded with cheap parts that work. I don't like them, personally. But you can't deny that they're super cheap to make big power. Go visit Jeg's or Summit and check out the prices on some of these parts. It's insane how cheap some of that shit is. |

Of course my Cobra walks all over it THIS. Although that really goes for any V8. Especially BMW...they rev so damn high and just keep going.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score Nice kill. Oops. You're fully bolted according to your sig? Maybe the one I ran at the track was auto then. Thought it was 6 speed with a mediocre driver. He beat me by ~1 tenth and had a better 60', otherwise I would've had him. I believe they are only mid 13s @104-105 cars in 6 speed form, which would make sense. See below. He went 13.62 @ 105 & I went 13.77 @ 104 on a horrid 2.29 60'. I 'treed' him by 1 tenth but he got a better 60' by the same margin, so it was a dead even run until he creeped a cock's length at the end.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked  :   0 score Bolted (minus manifolds, no bigger turbo). This was also on a very conservative tune from John, (Rich said not much was changed from an ots map). Car feels much faster now that Rich jizzed on my map.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score I raced a stock C6 in my old speed3. I had Tp/straight pipe exhaust, intake, Cobb ots map and some other shit. I didnt win obviously but the guy didnt pull like I though a vette should have pulled. Id say that was a spot on race for OP and outcome was as expected for a base C5.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score Im guessing these vette guys just cant drive. My A4 completely stock Z28 with a ton of miles went 13.7 @ 103 on street tires, 2.0 60 foot.... My car weighed 3565 with no exhaust or A/C last time I had it on the scales, so over 3600 at that time... with a decent driver that C5 should be a 13.3 car all night in stock trim. Regardless sounds like it was a good race.

	 | Not Ranked  :   0 score ^ The Vette I ran against went 13.6 with a 2.17 60'. With a low 2.0 he would've been around 13.3-13.4. But so would I.
