GB: GROUND CONTROL + KONI SPORT Coilovers for Mazdaspeed 3! We have seen the need for a low cost, yet good quality, suspension option, so we're here to bring it to you! The Ground Control Coilover Conversion Kit and KONI's renowned Yellow Sport Shocks provides us with that opportunity! Quality components from two well-known manufacturers combine to create a customizable set of coilovers that easily exceed the quality of low-cost Taiwanese coilovers while simultaneously coming in at a lower cost! Ground Control has been creating customizable and personalized suspension options since 1980. They do not offer "one size fits all" products. The spring rates of each kit are customized to best meet your needs. When you place an order with us, our site will ask you questions about your intended use for the vehicle, your desired ride feel, and the weight of your vehicle and Ground Control will use this information to select the proper spring rates to meet your needs. Of course, you're always welcome to specify exact spring rates if you know what you need. The range of spring rates that are considered acceptable for this vehicle with KONI Yellows is 450-650 lb/in in the front and 500-800 lb/in in the rear. If you're using the stock shocks, you will automatically get the softest springs (which are still 15% more firm that the stock springs), as the stock shocks are not suitable for increased spring rates. Ground Control kits consist of a set of Eibach Springs and an anodized aluminum adjuster that provide a drop adjustment range from 0 to 1.6 inches. KONI has been involved in automobile dampers since 1932 and has produced adjustable telescopic dampers since 1945. KONl Sport's familiar yellow color has for decades meant superior motion control and adjustability for the discerning driving enthusiast. So much so that they are almost always referred to as KONI Yellows! KONI Yellows average force/velocity dyno chart is on par with coilover kits costing twice as much with a very digressive compression curve that remains consistent and a rebound curve that indicates a wide range of adjustment allowing them to perform anything from daily driving duties to regular track events. This combination of Ground Control and KONI remains very popular among daily drivers and track enthusiasts in a wide range of markets. And now, they can be yours! Included in this group buy:

Sweet! GC+Koni 50% likelihood (gotta see how the bonus comes in a couple weeks) |
|
I'm in GC + Koni 100% |
GC + Koni 100% need suspension soon! |
GC + Koni 100% if I don't buy them sooner. I need new stuff so badly but I will try to hold out for the deal! So what's the deal with cutting on the konis, I believe it's the spring perch or seat?? Sorry suspension noob lol. I talked to Trevor from GC tonight and he said they are adjustable up to 1.6 drop, but if you want more adjustment then you can cut on the fronts... the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger yet was because I was concerned how that would effect the koni lifetime warranty. |

This is nice. Does koni have a recommendation on what to use for bumpstops? |
What a great deal, even at 10 buyers. Only way I can see this getting better is offering just the Koni's. That would be a sick deal. I am sure you can put an exclusion and say only the same amount as GC only buyers. So basically 1:1. |
Subbed in case I decide to be an idiot with my money at the last moment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hell yeah. Already have the Koni's sitting in my garage and Ground Controls were next on my list. I'm thinking I'll sell my Yellows and buy the kit you guys are selling if the perches are already removed. I just have off the shelf Koni's. @RPM; are there any differences with these shocks vs off the shelf Koni's yellows? 80% I'll buy one of them GC only 50% GC+KONI 30% Come on 40 people let's do this! This is hands down the best deal you'll find. |
gc only 75% and koni 25% |
gc+ koni 75% :fingersx: |
gc+koni 90% |
GC + Koni 50% |
I'm sure once I cut the perches off my current Koni's warranty would be void. Curious to see if we buy the kit if we still get some sort of warranty on the shocks. GC 65% GC+Koni 25% GET THEM TO RELEASE THE DAMN CAMBER PLATES!!! |

We have an email in to GC to get some clarifications, then we'll have answers to all of the questions that have been posed so far. They don't open until 9am PST, so give me a few hours. :) |

GC Only - 50% I'd like to see more details of what needs to be done to modify the Koni shocks. |
Alright, we have a bit more information which should answer most of the questions that have been posed. The perches MUST be cut off of the KONI shocks in order to use the GC kit. GC is going to send me instructions on how to do that, so I'll post those once I receive them. The pricing in the first post was based upon the off-the-shelf KONI shocks with no modifications and no bump stops. I'm currently talking to GC about removing the perches and including bump stops. I don't know if this will add to the cost, or how much, but once they get back to me, I'll follow up and let everyone know. |
Will be interested based upon the answer to the perches and bumpstops |
Which spring version is closest to the Eibach Pro kit? Daily Driver - Touring, aggressive or race? I want the same or similar feel as my eibachs but with height adjustability. I already have Koni's but i might be interested in a full kit if they can cut the perches and install the bottom section just because of the time savings for this backyard mechanic :You_Rock_Emoticon: |
I spoke directly to GC a few days, according to them would cut the perch and install the spring. I am assuming the group buy is a different case since it's from a vendor. |
cutting the perches off the fronts? Makes me wonder now how these will fit with my wheels.....I have like....VERY limited room in there. TRM C3's, 17x9 and I think they're +48 |
4 Attachment(s) @gingermike; These pics are courtesy of @Bap;. He's running ground controls and there appears to be a fair bit of clearance. Not sure what wheels and tires he's running. Bap any info on that? I also found a pic of the stock shock as well. |

Here are my photos. Note I'm VERY Close to the stock strut body. Guess maybe a 5mm spacer may be in order? lol. |

Good deal. Figured I needed 'em. |
Hey my wheel set up is 18x8 + like 45 or 48 with 225/40/18 rubber but the dipole that is in the stock strut body and the koni strut body offers a bit more clearance. https://scontent-a-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/...19273380_o.jpg the GC kit comes with everything shown in the picture, including the new upper bearing assemble. I am on aggressive ride with 525 front and 550 rear. car handles really well with them I am enjoying them. For those that want to see before and after pic got to gen 2 suspension topic ground control and Koni yellows has some good pics their. |
so this GC conversion kit will work with my bilsteins? if so then im in 75% |
