Default BIG TURBO Questions!

Hey guys anyone have any questions on big turbos from drop in kits to fully custom t3 kits ask them here! Also anything to do with iwg and ewg turbos feel free to post them up here!

Well if you are fully bolted already which includes, intake,fuel pump/internals,tmic or fmic and full 3 inch turbo back exhaust and Cobb AP or CPE Stand back to really benefit the a maximize the upgrade of a big turbo.

The only thing to order is a atp gtx drop in kit and big turbo inlet and you would be good to break the 400whp mark with a solid tune.

Running BT is it a good idea to upgrade clutch to handle torque? Do you think it's a bad idea to daily drive a 400hp bt setup?

do you guys only sell GT30 series turbos?

any precision, Borg warner, etc. journal vs ball bearing.

I had a garret fail on me recently and the fact I cant really rebuild it sucks

Great question, I have 450whp and I have 15+ dyno pulls, several track visits and several autox events. On top of that I commute 100 miles to my job everyday and have yet to have problem.

As of today I just turned 65k and my clutch is holding just fine, It may be in my head that its getting a tad soft but its not slipping in the least bit. Only time will tell and I will keep this updated. I have about 10k on my bt build and the previous 30k were spent with 330whp and 380wtq.

how bout a turbo that can make roughly 350-375whp @ <20psi....good for us with stock internals

and do you guys do packages?

Yes we do packages (anything you need we can put together for you) and a turbo that would do well in that range would be a 3071r

Im also on stock internals on my power levels and the car loves it.

Thats a great question, I run a prototype Steed Speed mani and my buddy and I run roughly run the same mods minus he runs meth and I dont and I made 37whp more then he did.

Its really up in the air and to many variables but the definitly flow much better then stock.

Well the difference is that I have the mani with the interchangable flanges and the manifolds that are available now are actually supposed to flow more then the manifold im running currently. I could see them doing 40whp+ with the new design

I spoke to atp not to long ago and unfortunately we can not just send in our regular model GT turbo and have them make it into a GTX. The good news is they are looking into that so hopefully it will be able to happen sooner then later.

So all the creep and IWG issues are solved now even with the higher flowing GTX series'?

That was really my only hesitation before...

Yea that is my question as well. How is boost control working with these IWG on these ATP turbos? Is anyone having any boost control issues?

Eric, another question that just came to mind. I think you might also have to replace your MAP controller, as the stock one only reads accurately up to ~22psi (granted your tune goes above this level).

Also, wouldn't it be recommendable to buy an EBCS?

This is another great question, you are correct the stock map sensor only reads to 22 psi but I still run it without a hitch. To compensate all you need is a accurate boost gauge and to up the boost an mbc (i run the grimmspeed) or an ebcs. DJ (djuosnteisn) runs the same 2.5 and he is planning for 30+ psi so really it comes down to personal preference

So about the intake..if going bt all i need is a bigger TIP and the rest of the intake can remain the same? I have a mazdaspeed CAI
