Default Gtx2867 vs gt3071r

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a big turbo for the st. Which do you think is better to hit my power goal of 390whp on 93 when the fueling problem has been solved and about 430whp with e85. I've been researching for days now mostly on here to look at peoples build and the gains they are getting. I'm just torn on which one to buy. Any help here would be appreciated in deciding.

DYNO-DATA - 2013 FOCUS ST 2.0L TURBO : atpturbo.com

though a bit lower, I actually like the look of the GTX3067 in ATP's results.

There are a lot of variables that haven't been sorted out on the road to 400whp. The Ecoboost at the low power levels we're seeing on the K03 is a bit more efficient than that DISI. This means that it will make more power with a smaller turbo so in theory the GTX2867 should get you there. The spool will however also be slower. There is a big difference in boost threshold between the GTX2867 and the OEM K03. Bigger difference than from the K04 to the same GTX turbo.

For that reason alone I prefer to stick to the smaller frame turbo.

The other thing that worries me is the exhaust manifold. We don't know at what point it will choke off flow. If it chokes top end and you bought a big top end turbo you're screwed in both ways.

So I would personally choose the smaller GTX2867 before the older and larger GT30 anyday especially on that platform.

On the development car we are going with the GTX or the EFR 6258.

AWesome! on the road to making power.

What are the limits of the stock block does anyone know yet? Ours is like 400lb-ft torque. Curious if your limits are a lot higher on stock block.

Well I'm out of fuel up top right now getting ready to order the bigger injectors and see how far they get me I'll keep this thread updated.

For now we are not sure about where the limits to the stock block are, but fueling is the biggest problem. Very similar to the mazda, but the cap is a bit lower on the factory injectors. It will be interesting to see how much more room we get out of the mountune injectors. The ST also seems to be able to be ran considerably leaner so that gives a bit more room to make more power on the factory injectors if you are brave enough to run 12.6-13.0 afr at WOT. But so far from some things I've seen and heard the ST should be capable of handling it. I would like to back this up with first hand experience before I start recommending it though.

Sounds good I'm waiting to see your results before I pull the trigger on them. I want to see if my power goals are realistic with those new injectors. Or do I need to go a different route.
