(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well, I guess I need to retain the spring on the new shaft that came with my internals kit with something. The instructions don't detail this little part of the process at all. It's allright, I figured it out. I thought it must be like a valve lock, in that a tap on a socket the size of the retainer would release the lock and, I was correct. Last edited by darth vader; 12-26-2009 at 02:52 PM. (Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks. Got another question now. How do you get the little button back ON the retainer and, it's bevel side OUT, right? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah, they use a lot of special tools. Here's my answer: I pushed the shaft up as high as it would go, slid a 14mm box wrench under the retainer, laid it between my slightly open vise jaws, with the wrench overhanging the gap, then putting the button on and smacking it with a deadblow hammer. Went on right away, doing that. Thanks for the guidance, though. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Results are in. After 100 miles of break in, some WOT pulls datalogged today. 17-1800 psi, up from 700, over 5K. Car runs like a maniac. WOT was hard to find because I kept smacking the boost cut, like Bruce Lee giving me the 3" punch. I had to keep feathering the gas to keep it under the cut, it being only a couple degrees above freezing here. Mods are: CS DP/RP, AEM CAI, PG TIP, Forge BPV w. red spring Pump guts are PtP. Delivering on their promise, so far. The boost cut issue is outside temp/DP design related, can't tell which just yet, it being so cold. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks to Darth for his method of removal and installation of the retainer! PTP needs to detail this out with some instructions. The ones they send you are from a KMD installation with two piece shims and everything...not useful at all. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yer welcome...I thought it was pretty weird to be sending out picture instructions that are for another company's product. Not too professional, that, imho. 95% of the job is the same but, there are some detail elements that differ. The supplied instructions also give no torque values, which is bullshit. Reasoning it out based on the thread pitch used and size, like we used to have to do in antediluvian times, serves well here. No more than 50 pounds/ft on the cap and 16 on the mounting screws. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score your preinstalled pump is probably broken in already. PTP pumps have a 100mile break in period. got the cut in second holding 6k rpms just to break them in at that rpm. i go between 3-6k to break in the pump

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'm really sure. The boost gauge pegs, the fuel pressure is up, according to my datalogs, at 1700-1800 psi, Bruce hits me in the face. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score A manual boost controller put Bruce back in his cage for me...now it shoots to 17, where I want it and holds there. Good luck on the install! |
