(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Broke a piece off of my CAMSHAFT!!! Here is my question: If you don't have a crank pulley tool could you theoretically put the car in first gear and have someone hold down the brake pedal and use it to hold the crank pulley still? For some reason it seems to me like that should work or am I wrong?

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I wonder what kind of stress it puts on everything, cause between the brakes to the crankshaft there are a LOT of parts that the force would travel through but then again when you launch the car it puts more stress on that whole drive line system..... Does this make sense to anyone else? This is something I`ve always thought about but never discussed.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Should work same principle as if the car was automatic and it was in park laying on the parking prawl. U can also hold the pulley with a strap wrench. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Try putting it in a higher gear. It takes alot more torque to turn it against that. It's the old bicycle analogy, steep hill, granny gear, easy to pedal, high gear, quad burn city. Also, tighten the bolt a hair before you loosen it. That'll break the thread interface and it'll wind right off. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It won't matter what gear if someone is holding the brakes, so long as it isn't in neutral.
