(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hi there. I've been experiencing high oil consumption rates in the last 5k miles. About half a liter every 500 miles. Today, I checked the sparks, both of them seem pretty similar. I checked too the turbo, I attach a video where you can check and give me your feedback. There is no oil at all neither in the intake nor in the intercooler, no oil in the turbo too. Installed oil restrictor about 5k miles ago. 5w30 oil used. Finally I started the engine with the PCV hose unplugged, no smoke at all. Next step will be checking compression. My speed has 50k miles.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/579e13e8...731-WA0011.mp4 Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Maybe you have a leak? I'm saying this because from what you're saying the oil restrictor install coincides with the start of high oil consumption. The turbo play is to be expected. On ball bearing turbos you're fine as long as they don't hit the housing. On journal bearing turbos there's an interval for the play when they don't hit the housing yes but the journal seals are worn and let oil and/or coolant to pass. For now I'd start using a 0w40 or 5w40 oil. the 5w30 is known to pass past seals and burn into the exhaust. For now it's kind of safe to blame the turbo and assume that the cats (do you have them both) are masking the symptom. So change the oil and see where that gets you, and yes, do that compression test, if the oil burns into the cylinders (valve seals, ring lands) then you can have no smoke but still burning oil at a relatively high rate.

Are you sure about the turbo? It appears to be scratching the housing as you can see in the video, it sounds quite sharp too. BTW, I'm running decat. Last edited by Tiner; 07-31-2016 at 01:36 PM. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score If it touches the housing well... then that's it.
