This is one of my favorite exhausts I have ever had on a car. Quiet inside besides a nice low tone, zero drone and I can hear it when I want to.

Dale,

You gotta tell us the muffler product numbers for those magnaflows, similar setup to what I would run, I'm sure several guys would appreciate it. Any cruising videos?

Magnaflow 12226

I have a pair myself, but went 3" M2 dp to custom 2.5" all the way back to & through the 2.5" magnaflow's. No resonator, no cats, no drone. Just nice & deep, and a serious wail at WOT

Excellent thanks TI! I've been researching like a mad man about exhausts, drones, etc. I've got a CPE catted, thinking 3" into two 2.5"s may work for me.

Then I installed a catless CPE DP & DNP turbo mani. Holy shit that was loud. Idle wasn't too bad, but start-up & WOT were fucking bananas. Neighbors hated me, especially coming home after 3 in the morning. Droned like a motherfucker on the interstate. My system had to be cranked so loud to not hear the exhaust lol.

No vids of it, but there's probably some you can find on youtube of others with similar setups.
That's my next mod but Idk runnin w/o mufflers? Was there a lot of drone at cruise? What if did the opposite just mufflers an no res, you think sound wise it be about the same?

Hell yeah it droned lol. Mufflers hinder performance with unnecessary back pressure, though they greatly quite down the exhaust. Resonators strictly absorb sound, without any performance loss. With mufflers I'd imagine you'd be a bit quieter than my setup. Performance difference - I'm sure we're only talking a few HP at most.

CPE Single exit, no resonator, with muffler. I have another video as well i cannot post until i get home from work, but here is this one.
Might consider removing the muffler. Logan, do you not have any sound clips of yours without the muffler?

I went cheap on my exhaust cuz I don't have a whole lot of money. I have the eBay full length DP with the stock cat back. But I cut off the mufflers and had it straight piped with a resonator in the middle. I think it sounds absolutely amazing and I've never complained about it once. If anyone cares for a video or sound clip just let me know.

Ugh I miss that sound
I sure don't man. I never got around to it. I really wish I would've gotten a clip of the custom exhaust I did. DNP mani, catless CPE DP, 12" resonator, turndown. the "catback" was only about 18" long. I sold it after my motor blew. Someone here on MSF is running it. I don't recall who tho. I'd have to dig way deep into my F/S threads & PMs.

Turn down as in it did not exit out of the rear exhaust surround? Ive considered doing that because my passenger side chrome piece is black while the other is still chrome lol

lol I painted them both matte black. And yes, turn down as in it turned down approximately just below the shifter/e-brake handle. Only weighed like 10 lbs. Was such a gangster exhaust.

I think I sold it to @awdfun; not 100% certain tho. I've cleared all my PMs since my part out. If he's got it tho, hopefully he's got a pic or can post up a sound clip for ya's.

I can post a sound clip of the 390 stroker I'm finishing for my Dakota tho lol

So I'm new at this, just picked up an 06 Speed6 about 10 days ago. The car is completely stock from what I can tell. I'm looking to make the exhaust sound better, but don't want any drone. I've listened to the clips, and the magnaflow sounded great, but from what most are saying, I should go with a 3 inch exhaust as the magnaflow is to close to OEM and provides little to no gain for a 450 price tag. Would the CorkSport provide me with what I'm looking for? Thanks for your help.

Where did you buy the exhaust? I looked at the CPE website and it's crazy on the price. I need to meet up with you and listen to what your car sounds like. I don't want any drone at all. Can't stand that, especially when you pay the amount of money they are asking for their systems.

hold up you're at Hill!?! are you UT Mazadas forum? abd live in base housing???
Yes I'm stationed at Hill. I actually live off base in West Point. I'm currently TDY in Guam but should be back CONUS later this week. I am on utahmazdas.com and 6crew.com with the same name, Volvite.

oh nice man, ya its quit expensive but their exhaust is awesome dual or single..I bought the single exit for $525 w/ muffler (normally $689 w/muffler $610 straight piped) from a guy on the forum, it should be in an installed by next fri hopefully, folks on UTMZD get 10% off at the Bountiful Mazda on CorkSport products . If you're back in time, next sat the 4th you should come to our dyno day.

Thanks man. I've heard about the dyno day, but my younger brother is graduating USU on the 4th about the same time you all are meeting for the dyno. Had it been another weekend, I probably would have been there. I'm really looking forward to modding this car. I will have to hit up a meet and hear your car once you have the exhaust is on. All the sound clips have sounded great but it's not the same thing as hearing it in person.

on my speed 6 im running the 3' corksport down pipe with a test pipe and no mufflers..i have a ap tune on the car and a upgraded intake and intercooler. I love the way the car sounds but I don't want the potential of it blowing up from no back pressure..

I just did a muffler delete, still has all the cats (for now) and it sounds great. It's loud enough that I can hear it, and it also has a nice deep grumble at low RPMs. I was surprised it sounded so good.

Anyone running a CorkSport catback with an M2 (ebay) downpipe?

I'm asking this because I'm concerned with the fitment. When I put on my test pipe I had to get the flange that mates up to the catback cut off and welded back on at a different angle because the CS catback has an angle in it about 6 in. before the flange.

The factory catalyst has that bit of an angle on so we did the same with our catback. We have not seen one of the ebay downpipes before so we are an IDK on it.

Does anyone have the atp catless downpipe with the corksport dual exhaust? If yes how loud is it, I have heard the single exit and it is way to loud i'll get pulled over every day here for that.

Pretty much all catless downpipes will sound the same. If sound regulations are an issue for you then get a resonated test pipe.

Any drone?

I've seen people state that muffler delete caused the turbo seals to go bad due to reduced back pressure during idle. Have you had any issues?

I'm considering doing this soon. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't had any issue with the seals yet, and I've been deleted for 3k miles. The drone isn't too terrible with just the muffler delete. The car isn't very loud, it just opens it up and gives it a nice deep grumble.

^ Buy a v-band catless DP from e-bay + a hi-flow cat, have the cat welded where the 2nd cat is, away from the heat. If you buy a one-piece DP with a hi-flow cat, the cat will be welded where the 1st cat is and will fail overtime.

I need some advice. I'm collecting my exhaust parts until I'm ready to install them. So far I have an eBay 3in full length cattless down pipe and a 3in high flow cat. And I want to get dual 3in inlet 4in outlet magnaflow mufflers. I think it will sound great. I was talking to someone about it and he said not to put the cat in. I have a cs sri and cs hpfp and cobb ap. Would leaving the cat out negatively effect the way it runs

I have a 3" ATP downpipe, no cat, and a Corksport catback. I loved the sound but it did drone.

I took the car into a local speed shop and had them fab in a 3" Vibrant resonator as part of the mid-pipe. The awesome turbo four cylinder sound is still there but the 3000 rpm drone is gone.

Noob here with a MS6 and I'm still trying to learn this car. Came from a MSP so it's pretty different, anyways... The picture says a DP replaces 1-3, is there a DP that only replaces 1-2 so I can keep the second cat for back pressure? I'm worried about the infamous smoking turbo problem and would want to keep a cat to help with the issue.

PS I already have HPFP internals and AP with idle turned up.

Edit: Maybe this isn't the right thread to post it in but everyone here seems to have experience with replacing their DPs and exhausts so I figured I'd reach out here
