Default bnr s3 smoking

So after having my bnr installed fir about 5 months now im getting smoking at idle. At first it wasn't too apparent, but now its happening more. It doesn't bother me to much, but I'm thinking its gonna get worse. Just trying to see if anyone else has experienced this. Maybe the turbo seals didn't seat properly or something. I'm going to do a compression test to make sure there's no issue there. I really don't feel like taking this turbo off again, but looks like I might have to.

Do you use a turbo timer? Do you use Rotella T6? Did you try raising your idle?

how many miles on the engine? maybe pcv or valve seals.

One of the uk guys had a problem when installed his bnr3, started smoking very soon after installation.
Low failure rate but these things happen

No need for a turbo timer on a water cooled turbo. I use rosella t6.' I didn't try raising my idle they.

Engine has 70,000 miles on it. It was fine when i first got my s3, then I had the issue with an extension messing up the turbine wheel, sent it back to bnr and turbo was rebuilt, smoking issues started soon after. It wasn't much at first, but now it's a bit more noticeable. Valve seals or PVC could be a the issue but the turbo hasn't been that long and there was no issue with that before.

The guy in uk paid to get it refurbished in uk, too much bother sending it back so he just cut his losses. Zero smoking problems since getting it done so must of just been a bad turbo I guess...

Since it's journal bearing you could get the turbo rebuilt relatively cheaply.

I would get your PVC checked out first. The valve is very cheap to replace. No point in having it get rebuilt if it's going to happen again. The BNR turbos are obviously better but that doesn't mean they fix our crap PVC.

Yea I'm gonna check the pvc first. I'm gonna check a few things over the weekend. And to rebuild a s3 isn't much money at all. But turbo is still under warranty, so um good there.

My BNR is fine. Been running it fine for 10 months and 110k on my motor.

Do you have oil in the IC or TIP? Catch can fills quickly? How's your oil consumption? Do a leak down after compression test too.
