Default Boost cut or normal?

My 2007 Speed3 is completely stock other than the cat on the downpipe replaced with straight pipe done by the previous owner. Today I was going WOT and noticed that around 5800 RMPS the boost drops from 14 to like 10 within a fraction of a second. I understand after doing some reading that with a stock car, its normal, but I got a video of it just in case because the drop in boost does seem a little dramatic.

you need hpfp internals with catless downpipe! watch your fuel pressure, don't go WOT until you get them. do some more reading

Oh, I thought that was only if I got an aftermarket catless downpipe. Not if the cat was just deleted, thanks

Would that be the cause of the boost cut?

i'm not certain if that pertains to just having a deleted cat or not, but the only way to really tell is to monitor your fuel pressure. if you dont have an access port, get the torque app and and obd 2 plug in. hpfp internals should be done regardless if you plan on doing anything down the road.

You will need fuel pump internals even with a deleted cat.

Get pump internals - now. Any upstream increased exhaust flow (downpipe or race pipe deleted or gutted cat) will overtax the high pressure fuel pump.

Stay out of boost until you get that done. Also, have you changed plugs recently? If so, what brand and what gap? They should be iridium fine wire plugs with a gap of no more than .028" -- many aftermarket plugs come with an insanely wide gap.

Boost increase that comes along with removing that cat (presumably in the race pipe or secondary cat section), can cause "spark blow out" if the plugs are gapped too wide. This happens even on stock tune. That will induce boost cut followed by recovery when under maximum load. Check your plugs if not certain they are gapped correctly.

This is no substitute for hpfp internal upgrade, however. That is mandatory with your mod.
