Default CNT Racing Turbo-Back Exhaust

Hello All,

I just received my CNT Racing Catted Downpipe this afternoon around 2pm; I kinda wish my UPS delievery person was a chick because he seems to allways show up at the wrong time. I've been waiting on CNT Racing to put the finishing touches on their downpipes since early to mid-November, and it appears as though the wait was worth it. I was really interested in having a "complete" TBE setup rather than two different brands mated up. I paid the full price on their website of $299 for the downpipe, 9 bucks is awesome and all but the biggest plus for me was the rep that I was dealing with noticed that I was located in Maui when he spotted how much my shipping was gonna be so he kicked me some bones back...all of the shipping costs in fact. I've had nothing but good expierences during every phone call or email with their sales rep's, thank you for that.

On close inspection of the downpipe itself, it looks ten times better than the rough unfocused pics that we've all seen from their website. I'm not a master welder, but on a trip to town to pick up some more anti-seize and PB spray today I swung by my welder and showed off my new shiney pipe, he seemed impressed with the quality and workmanship. When I handed it to him the first thing he noted was the thick flanges and the overall weight that he said seemed like double that of the ebay downpipe that he welded a yonaka hi-flow cat into for me several weeks ago. thumbs up, mates.

Attached are acouple pics (i'm not a foto-og-graffer btw) from right after signing my "Harry Dickfoot" to UPS. Of course my wife sensed that I had purchased something, odd considering how covert-ish I was being while holding my massive brown box in front of me.

I'm unable to install the Downpipe until Next weekend (sorry), because i'm going on a business trip to Petaluma, CA for a week tomorrow afternoon. I hope everyone else is having the same expierences with CNT Racing that I am having.

Regards,

~AJ

Wow, I don't know how I didn't notice that sooner. I've often wondered at what "CNT" stands for, i've dug through several other threads on other forums where the same has been asked the same question with no response.

CNT racing use thicker stainless flange (1/2 inch) and thicker gauge piping that is why the downpipe is more heavier.

All ebay downpipe use 202 stainless (25 cheaper compare to 304), 1/3 inch metal flange, and thinner stainless piping.

Here's a link to page 1 of the thread. The first youtube video is located at the top of the second page (stock dp/rp with CNT racing CBE) and the other video is at the bottom of the same page (ebay dp w/ yonaka hi-flow cat tig welded in with CNT racing CBE).

Figured it was best to continue on a new thread. Enjoy.

Roger mate,

Ebay dp flanges are 3/8" thick.

definately alot thinner piping too. I love how solid the CNT dp and cbe both feel. Another odd thing about my ebay dp is that the flex section doesn't really give any for some reason, not a big deal tho. their both pieces of metal that are bolt on in the end. I just find many more things about the CNT that I like, even taking into consideration the extra money I spent on ordering a hi-flow cat and paying my welder.

Please, anyone looking to save a few bucks by going with the ebay dp and getting a hi-flow cat welded in, don't. It'll cost more than buying the CNT dp. I came close to spending $300 for the PBJ rr dp from PG. Then I saw 240's thread and grabbed the same thing off ebay.

cnt catted dp = $299
pbj rr dp = $299

ebay dp = $170 shipped
yonaka hi-flow cat= $45 + $20 shipping
Welder (Maui prices) = $100 (including fixing welds/holes from manufacturer)

So I spent $335 on a dp i've only used for 2 weeks.

But the CNT one was the one I wanted.

I grabbed mine off their website at $299. the group buy that just ended was $290 due to the lack of people that showed intial interest without seeing the final photos. Pull the trigger tonight on credit and you'll be able to snatch one up. I think they mentioned they only have like 30 of them in their first batch. It took seven weeks for them to get them in stock, who knows if there will be big breaks in the production lines, as seen with other vendors....im waiting on a pump right now. That I need dearly.

You can't give up on the eBay dp. You have talked it up so much. Now your gonna ditch you favorite product?

Alright, I just got back from my business trip on Saturday and on Monday I jacked the car up and tore into it. I've been going crazy this past week wanting to knock this install out. It took longer than I thought it would. I spent 45 minutes removing the ebay dp and then spent 3 and a half hours installing the CNT catted downpipe. I had to use a wrench on the nuts due to the cast bellmouth not leaving any space to squeeze a socket onto the nuts, took forever turning it 1/16 each time but I got it done. The fitment was beyond perfect and it mated up to my CNT CBE, nothing like a stream lined exhaust system to give ya a nice hard on. The CNT dp fixed my issue with the cbe's tip sitting too close to the driver side plastic bumper, now it's centered evenly.

Here some pics from my install, ive got a video uploading as I type this as well.
I would buy this product again and again with no regrets. No issues.

Here's the video after I ran the car post-install to check for exhaust leaks.

Enjoy.

sounds excellent and looks great! Glad it was a nice fitment. I may pickup the catback exhaust. At $299 that is a great price. I need a little more sound to my car. I currently have the CPE catted DP with stock CBE.

I got a whole new set of them among other tools from lowes as well as a new rolling kobalt tool chest for Xmas. The closed end will not slide over the nut due to the zero clearence against the cast bellmouth. They really tried to make that housing as big as possible; it's a pain to install compared to the ebay dp.

Thanks mate, I love it as well. It's the sound I was going for 100%. My first choice was Corksport but this setup is cheaper, and shipping was like half what corksport wanted.

Will these be included with the downpipe or only sold separately?

Hehe, yeah I wasn't intending on using this video for the thread. I was going to do another video from the side at the same spot like the previous 2 vid's but I watched this one and liked it.

I'm currently awaiting a CPE hpfp that was suppose to be delievered to me on the 13th of December, 2010. But it appears like it might be mid-Feb at the earliest that it will ship. I'm kinda bummed out by the whole expierence. Is this normal of CPE to wait for months to ship someone their product? anyone else ran into this same deal? I guess there's nothing I can do, they're the "holder of the keys."

This issue has been happening for a long time with cpe pumps. sometimes they have plenty...most times they dont. it is mostly out of their hands. its a supplier issue.

the fact that gen2s keep popping up needing pumps isnt helping matters

have faith...AND MAKE SURE YOU SEND IN THAT CORE ASAP SO THE NEXT GUY CAN GET HIS =)

No idea, but they should be offering one for MS3's soon. They recently got the dimensions down acouple weeks ago for donut gasket's size.
