(Thread Starter) | Neutral : +1 score MS6 Top Mount Intercoolers $2,090 - AutoEXE TMIC | Part Number: ML3990 An intercooler kit for the original exchange type DISI turbo. The core thickness has been increased over the stock intercooler and the volume capacity has been increased. The air intake temperature is lowered via the optimized outer and inner fins. Also, the inner tube with a tapered air intake entrance has improved the air permeability rate to approximately 60%* compared to the original part, reducing pressure loss. Output and acceleration response is improved. Bolt-on installation is available. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= $399 - Corksport TMIC | Part Number: Gen-6-930-200 ![]() The CorkSport Top Mount Intercooler (TMIC) provides solid power gains and a great value add to the Mazdaspeed 3, MS6 and CX7 turbo. Made from CorkSport’s own custom cast end tanks which are TIG welded to a 3” thick bar and plate core, the TMIC provides added performance by removing the bottleneck restriction of the stock intercooler and increasing resistance to heat soak by using thicker materials. The cold pipe connection is CNC milled and drilled for a leak proof connection and all bolt holes have been capped off. CorkSport’s innovative design allows for the reuse of the Mazda OEM plastic shroud giving purchasers the option of maintaining the stock look and feel to the engine bay. An optional aluminum ring is available and can be customized to compliment the finish of your engine bay. The CorkSport TMIC has been vigorously tested to ensure optimal characteristics. Testing completed on a SuperFlow test bench proved a 46% increase in airflow over the Mazda OEM intercooler. During the testing, the CorkSport TMIC showed an average decrease in pressure across the core by 53% and an increase in overall efficiency of 25% over the stock intercooler. The CorkSport Advantage: Proven to provide 46% more airflow over the stock intercooler Cast aluminum end tanks provide superior airflow over competitors folded tanks Maintain your factory engine cover and keep the stock stealth and look of your engine bay Reduces pre-detonation (knock) of the fuel air charge Increased resistance to heat soak Bar and plate intercooler core removes bottlenecking for more power with less boost Fits the 2007-2009 Mazdaspeed 3, 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed 6, 2010+ Mazdaspeed 3, and Cx7 Choose from multiple custom finishing options to compliment your style Corksport Service and Support: Receive full color installation instructions, all of the needed installation hardware, and knowledgeable telephone installation support *Please note due to the design of the factory hood scoop on the 2010+ Mazdaspeed 3 the hood scoop seal will rest on the rear intercooler end tank with the optional aluminum shroud. **Stock shroud molding may cause some fins to benf slightly. If you come across this issue, first of all, this will NOT affect performance or efficiency of your TMIC. The easiest and recommended way of removing the offending culprit is to trim the TMIC shroud. See Shroud Fitment Document for more details. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= $399 - Custom Performance Engineering TMIC | Part Number: MMZRTMIKS Top mount intercoolers have become one of the most popular bolt-ons for the MZR DISI engines. cp-e™ set out to design the best. The biggest restriction of the stock TMIC is the outlet. Knowing this, cp-e™ alleviated these restrictions through a casting design with a smooth flowing unshrouded outlet. Both endtanks are completely cast to help flow in and out of the core while providing consistency. The core of the cp-e™ TMIC is made of bar and plate for its pressure efficiency and its cooling capabilities. The 3.25” thick core alleviates pressure drop while not interfering with the hood or surrounding components. cp-e™ determined the maximum fin density to create the largest temperature drop across the core. We have even capped every bolt hole location to prevent leaks that would normally go undetected by the consumer. The cp-e™ TMIC comes with 6061 billet CNC brackets machined to perfection on our 4 axis CNC machine. The shroud is CNC laser cut from billet 6061 aluminum to provide the best possible fitment. The mounting tabs for the shroud are CNC machined from 6061 billet so that they match the shroud exactly. All of these features add up to the best TMIC out there and cp-e™ is proud to announce the release of it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= $565 - Extreme Turbo Systems TMIC | Part Number: ETS_MS6_TOPMT The ETS MazdaSpeed top mount intercooler is the best intercooler on the market, not only price but quality. This intercooler features a direct bolt on design using the factory mounting points. The core is a bar and plate design for maximum cooling and efficency. A direct bolt on aluminum shroud is provided with every intercooler to eliminate the black shroud. The intercooler was designed to eliminate all restrictions and bottle necks the stock intercooler provided. Each intercooler is pressure checked at 35psi and comes with a limited lifetime warranty against cracking. Features: Bar and plate core Dyno proven gains of 20hp and 20tq on a stock vehicle (See Dyno Graph). Pressure checked at 35psi Direct bolt on Upgraded aluminum shroud Removed bottleneck the stock intercooler provided. 3.25" flows 1176 CFM (705hp based on flow, inlet/oulet restrict flow to ~600hp, surface area = 450hp at ~50mph, speed required for this power rating due to flow through the scoop. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= MS6 Front Mount Intercoolers $899 - Corksport Power Series MS6 FMIC Kit | Ate-6-130-03100 It is important to note that this kit reuses the factory TMIC location as a new air intake. You must keep the factory hood ducting for a ram air effect into the new intake location. CorkSport offers the ulitmate in a front mount intercooler kit for theMazdaspeed 6. The CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 FMIC kit replaces everything from the intake to the engine in one complete package. We started with building a Ram Air system by utlilizing the stock intercooler location with an intake box. The ram air intake allows you to retain the factory intercooler cover to keep the engine bay looking good. Mandrel bent 2.25 ID aluminum pipe moves the charged air to the 21 in x 10 in x 3 inch intercooler then the engine. We have used the largest core possible without having to cut the crash bar or factory plastic undertray. We also offer an innovative solution to the intercooler pipe path allowing the intercooler to be a cross flow type with offset end tanks to get the most temperature difference with minimal pressure drop. The Mazdaspeed 6 FMIC kit features the following: - Quality aluminum intercooler core, 21 in x 10 in x 3 in, with cast end tanks - Polished 2.25? aluminum piping with bead rolled ends and mounting brackets - Optional Black Powerdercoated intercooler pipes for stealth installation - CorkSport RAMAIR cold intake system with K&N Filter - Billet machined MAF housing with turbo inlet pipe - Black, Red, or Blue Silicone couplers - Stainless steel T-bolt clamps - All necessary hardware needed for installation - Detailed installation instructions - Pre-purchase option for Stock, HKS, or Greddy BOV flange. - Optional ATP ?Boost Cut Killer? The CorkSport Mazdaspeed 6 FMIC kit has undergone extensive testing in the shop and on the street. You can expect the following from installing the kit: - Peak power gains of around 30 horsepower and 40 ft-lbs of torque. - Intake boost increases 1-4 psi over the operating range of the turbocharger compared to stock. - AFR is safe to support the increase in boost from the more efficient intercooler. The CorkSport FMIC kit works with the following bypass/blow off valves: Greddy, HKS, Stock, and Forge. If the valve you have is not listed here there may be some clearance issues. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= $1,185 - Custom Performance Engineering MS6 Front Mount Intercooler Kit | MMS6FMIK All front mount intercoolers are not created equal! After a full year of testing and validation, Custom Performance Engineering(cp-e™) is pleased to announce the release of the ∆Core™Front Mount Intercooler. Being a true "form follows function" design, this intercooler was created from the ground up to outcool, and downright outperform the stock top mount intercooler in every respect. The end result does exactly that, and will maintain its superior efficiency all the way up to 450bhp. The 20"x6"x3" bar and plate intercooler core is nestled between the bumper and the air conditioning condenser with a slight rake. The end tanks also feature a baffle to ensure that the incoming airflow is equally dispersed along the entire length of the intercooler. Both the 2.25" hot and cold pipes enter the vertical flow core from the driver's side, which eliminates a potentially detrimental 180° bend. And of course, all the hardware including the intercooler pipes are aluminum as opposed to mild steel both for weight savings and for added heat transfer while the air is sliding its way through the intricate piping. This kit also includes a stock BOV flange leaving the choice up to you. These are the kind of clever details that we engineer into all of our products, and is also what makes this more than just any front mount intercooler kit. Still not convinced that we manufacture the finest front mount intercooler available for the SPEED6? We realize that people will not buy a product solely based on a manufacturer's word, so we validated our design by measuring the overall thermal efficiency, pressure drop, heat soak, and thermal response of both the stock and cp-e™ intercoolers. To view the FMIC validation paper please click below. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ~$528 - There are also a few eBay companies that offer an FMIC kit for the MS6. These have actually been tried and proven as good kits. Find them from stores such as: CXRacing & Just-Intercoolers =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You can also make your own custom FMIC using universal pipe kits and almost any intercooler core you like. Many have used ebay cores for their custom FMIC kits with success. A popular better quality core many have gone with is Treadstone Performance. They offer a good variety great quality intercooler cores for a good price. Use the search function to find MANY threads on several members' own custom FMIC projects for ideas on how you can build one for yourself. Simply search "Custom FMIC" or something similar to see several threads. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= If anyone has any links to custom FMIC builds post em up and I'll add em all to the OP. Also....I know there's an L/A kit too I just can't find the link to it.

| Once you've got a downpipe, HPFP internals, and a tune, yes. Furthermore, if you ever go for a larger turbo, it's worth it even more so.

| Not Ranked : 0 score So I currently have a 2006 Coldpipe installed on my MS6, and I have a 2007 Intercooler and Coldpipe in the garage. I though i remember reading that the 2006 one was better, but I cant find the thread it was from years ago. Anyone have insight on this? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score seems like alot of work, itd be easier to get an intercooler that has a driver side exit for hot and cold and just custom fab pipes where the intake goes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Currently no. Here's some threads I've started pertinent to your request. There's a few companies working on kits but they are doing the CX Racing over the engine/washer reservoir delete routing because it's easy; most kits are 2.5" ID which is a bit much for k04/BNR/CS turbo. I use my reservoir for meth so that was a non starter to me. Really, the only kit that's worth it and routes on the driver side and out of production is the CP-E kit for MS6. Here's some more discussion on it. Why won't any forum sponsors make an MS6 FMIC pipe kit? Dale's custom FMIC setup for MS6 - take 2

| Not Ranked : 0 score So, I need to change my sig, I missed out on the treadstone kit when i went to order they were out. Sooo. My tuner has said to me I need to do something to remedy my bats, as they are getting high after a few pulls. Understandable on a stock tmic to a cs turbo. But I mentioned to him, that was fine next paycheck Im ordering the CPE tmic cause after looking at the ets and cpe, they are basically the same dimensions, cpe is just cheaper. Both 3.25 thick cores, Ive been doing corksport everything, but i read a thread on the cs tmic and i wasnt impressed so for a first time Im gonna have to do something different. So anyways, i said ok ill order the cpe tmic this paycheck and have it on in a jiffy, my tuner said eggh, you should go fmic with an ms6. Now here in lies my question, no arguement i know fmic is better and for about 100 bucks more or so, i dont feel like making my own piping. Back to, i see alot, and i mean ALOT of people on here with ms6s and they just have upgraded tmic, so give me some input people. What are your bats compared to your intake temp only if your driving ms6 and are you top mount or fmic? Just trying to figure out if i wanna take the time installing a front mount by myself out this cold or just cop a nice tmic for now. Tax time so i have the cash.

I had a upgraded top mount and then when to a front mount (cx racing and an eBay core). My bats improved a lot! By 20+ at the top of my pull. Your tuner is telling you that for a reason. You can buy eBay piping like the cx racing but then buy a nice core like treadstone and be set. You're gonna get much more spending the money to go front mount

| Not Ranked : 0 score With various upgraded TMICs (I've owned 4 different brands) and stock turbo, I've seen BATs go up 50F in a single pull/run at the strip. I've also seen BATs that were in the 210-220 range while tracking. They're all roughly the same, as long as you make sure you have some shroud on it. I don't have FMIC data, yet; it was only recently installed. @nindoja;

| Not Ranked : 0 score No FMIC on my 6, but even with the 3.5" ETS TMIC on my BNR S3, I was seeing 45-50 degree difference in temps between runs at the strip. Same day as @xfeejayx; was seeing similar. Needless to say, FMIC is on my list once I get my engine back together.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Honestly, I think the Treadstone kit is pretty nice and for what you get it's not overpriced. If I didn't already have an FMIC it's probably what I'd go with. My only complaint is I'm not a fan of Al crash bars. Treadstone Front Mount Intercooler Kit Mazdaspeed 6 2006-2007 - EdgeAutosport.com

| Not Ranked : 0 score Corksport sent me a response to my FB message about their upcoming release of their new fmic. Said they were still on target for late spring/early summer release at a price of 499$. If it is loke their pictures, the hot side will route down driver side to IC back to IM on driver side. Thus your creature comforts that had to be removed for the other flavor fmic’s out there can be added back. |

Is that for a kit including IC? Or just a new IC? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

| Neutral : +1 score @Dubcnea; its the same as the kit they previously had for MS6 but with improved piping design, if people had an overheating problem I would put money on that it came up with the original kit. I wish that it came with a different crash bar, Im not about to spend a ridiculous $599 for just a crash bar from New Age...
