Default NEW DOWNPPIPE/HPFP/TURBO

HELLO i just installed a Down pipe that is catless, also a new K04 turbo and high pressure fuel pump. i am running with a stage 2 cobb tune. but going into WOT my car starts to pop a lot when i really get into it.
Mods are

Down pipe hatless
Cork-sport HPFP brand new from yesterday
brand new K04
sure motor sports short ram back from turbo
greddy type rs BOV vented to atmosphere.
Cobb acesse port tuner

No check engine light or anything leaking. just confused

any help would be great.

Take some logs so we can see whats going on.

And your car needs to be custom tuned for vent to atmosphere. Ots maps are not set up for that

ok so update i am currently downloading the cobb racer tuner. forgot to do it earlier today. so ill have it up tomorrow

Epic long log, didn't need that much info, but yes, looks like your vta bov is to blame as every time you let off throttle, your AFR's go rich...

Car is expecting air to recirculate, you're letting it into the atmosphere, so there is too much fuel going in on shifts... Change it to recirc, problem fixed...

Or get a proper tune...

I hate to do this to a fellow Michigander, but I just can't let this all slide.

1. You need to read literally everything in your welcome PM and the associated links.

2. You need to read more about the platform before just throwing parts at your car. You've added something that can result in ZZB if not properly tuned-for (the BOV).

3. Your communication skills could use a significant improvement.

There's no check engine light or anything leaking, I'm just confused, and any help would be great.
First, a note about your grammar and spelling:
- You should aim for consistency in the way you list things. If it's "a ___, a ___, and ____" the sentence doesn't work as well as when it's "a _____, a _____, and a____."

Second:
- You should not be running a BOV without a custom tune designed to compensate for it. The stock system uses a bypass valve (BPV) that recirculates air back into the intake tract. The air it circulates is metered, so the ECU is expecting to see it. By running a BOV in VTA mode, you're letting that metered air escape from what should be a "closed" intake system.

- You should also know exactly what intake you're running. SURE Motorsports is a pariah on MSF, as they've produced some parts that are potentially very deadly (I mean this with deadly sincerity), and some that have simply fallen apart with normal use. That said, they have several different intakes on offer, and some of them have larger-than-stock MAF housings. Such an intake with a larger MAF requires customized MAF calibrations in order for the car to run normally and safely.

I will be quite honest I am not that good at spelling and it is something I am trying to work on. Thank you for looking over my log. This is embarrassing that you went through and picked out the flaws in my spelling but non the less I appreciate it.
To further help me with a custom tune, any good shops that tune/Dyno in Easter part of Michigan?

I would strongly recommend that you read what's in your welcome PM, read what's in the links therein, and then (or maybe before then) get in touch with one of the e-tuners on here. I wouldn't trust a shop to tune one of these cars. Most shops have no idea what the hell they're doing when it comes to this motor/platform.

(As for the spelling, having gone through the rigors of law school, I've become something of a spelling/grammar Nazi. I don't do it so much out of spite, as out of the will to "issue spot" and make communications easier for everyone in the long run. On that note, you're clearly quite capable of communicating quite well, and when you do, it'll get much more positive responses from pretty much anyone with whom you communicate.)

i would like to say thank you to the nice and helpful people on this thread that have given me good guidance. For the rest i understand that you are upset and i apologize. I use this forum for tools to help me to further my knowledge on this wonderful platform.

I'll say it again, I've been running my HKS VTA for 2 years with no specific tuning for it and I have no issues. If the valve is designed to run VTA then it will seal under all non-operational conditions and the only indication that you're running differently is a slightly rich just-off-throttle/clutch-in condition.

The log you posted shows no particular issue that I can see, you go rich when the throttle drops substantially but I don't see anything other than that. That's to be expected with a bov. You do go quite rich admittedly but that could be a MAF cal problem.

If your valve is malfunctioning that's a different issue. But in a properly working VTA setup there should be no drivability issues and definitely not whatever is supposedly happening at WOT for you

The knock sensor reading hits .7 to 1.0 sometimes. Would this be a sign of things to come? Am I ok with that number since I have you here.
