(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I pulled some things out of storage from before i joined the military and found 3 of my sneaky pete nos bottles. I originally used them on my 1991 turbo II RX7 for an intercooler sprayer. I purchaced new and found a cyro style unit to mount to my front mount. worked great when i had to sit at english town and ATCO raceway on race days. Anyway long story short i am looking to adapt it to my top mount unit and eventually move it to my front mount whenever i get some cash for a new core. Has anyone ran a system such as this with any results? Also anyone know when the NOS bottles need to be pressure tested again? They are 7 years old now and i can't find any thing on how long they are good for.... |

Very true, thus the reason i used No2. I see alot of people complain saying that the No2 is uneffective compaired to meth and water sprayed on the I/C. Everyone knows water or meth pulles away latent heat but the possibility of water on the track isn't good. Also the effencenty is stated with meth/water being cheaper and No2 not doing much. Here is my findings when i had my front mount on my RX7. My intake charge was up to 20 degrees colder. Now i never used meth/water spayed on the I/C which would lower it but thats depended on evaporation and we all know summer months it wont happen. So i come to this.....Does anyone have any logs or evidence of a gain over the dreaded heat soak?

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would say water, its all going to evaporate... Unless you are spraying it through a garden hose nozzle. Even if it doesn't evaporate, the valve cover is under the TMIC, and that bitch is hot as hell too. As a matter of fact, everything under the TMIC is hot as hell.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would try co2 simply because its cheaper. You may find the need to use much of it for a worthwhile effect. The IC's right on top the motor and will probably start heat soaking immediately after you spray. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would want one just when i'm at the drag strip. when you're moving everything is fine, but when you are sitting there is no air to help cool. A sprayer would help to cool the intercooler before a run. During run it would keep it super cold. I would do it if i had the money

| Not Ranked : 0 score When no2 or co2 comes out it comes out as a solid and it's also so cold it causes water to condensate and freeze. So it's not like it instantly evaporates

Hence you would need the gas to spray at some pressure in order to do so. Its not like the intercooler is wide open on the other side its kinda blocked. Without air flowing under the car to create a low pressure zone, there's now vacuum to help air flow in the ducting, over the IC and down around the engine and out. This is why i wonder, if spraying an IC thats essentially in a tube with no air flowing threw it, would even be effective. I think the air flow dynamics need to be addressed before deciding on what gas to use.

| Not Ranked : 0 score C02 for sure if you really want to try it . I thought about it after i saw some rednecks here in austin icing up there intercoolers before they shut the motors off on a bunch of 1JZ powered toyota sedan turds. but what was funny is that there cars actually idled better and ran better after each race on the streets. Test your theory withsome duster turned upside down or something. then if it shows any real advantage .. make up something permanent

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score If you put a deflector on the top mount you will loose any cooling it offers. A low pressure is below it which helps airflow. I don't think a deflector would be needed anyway. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would like to add something, albeit not spray bar related. While waiting in the staging lanes with my 88 RX7 TII, I would ice the top mount and leave ice on it when going down the track. Times dropped from around 14s to 13.465 with no other changes. All I had was intake and exhaust...and wicked boost creep. Funny story, the track official at the starting lights wasn't pleased when a few ice cubes slipped out of my hood scoop after warming up the tires. Now I'm driving an '06 MS6 GT (w/o Nav). Currently stock with about 125k or so. Got it Dec 2015. |
