Default Turboxs FMIC trouble.

So I broke down and got the fmic. The piece looks amazing.

Well I installed it yesterday. I started the car and let it idle for about 5 min. I went to rev it up and it feels really funny. My boost gauge goes up to 5in of vacuum then it starts pulling more vacuum with my foot still on the gas. It feel like there is a big restriction somewhere. So as someone was reving it for me and I was looking at everything I noticed that the 90 degree coupler from the intercooler to the cold side pipe was collapsing.

So I am thinking boost leak...home depot and lowes are already closed so I can't make a boost leak tester. So I resort to soapy water. Someone was revving it while I was spraying all the couplers and the bpv. Well one clamp needed a little adjusting and it stopped bubbling. But the flange for the bpv was bubbling at the weld. It bubble pretty good but would this be enough for the car to not boost at all. I know its a maf car and air is excaping after the maf and before the intake manifold so it should run bad. It idles just fine.

So I think I just answered my own question while typing this out. But feel free to voice out some other options of what is wrong. The flange is going to get re-welded tomorrow.

Any leak can cause that prob. Bad weld huh? Well you have some options. Seeing as TurboXS doesnt like to participate on the internet, you can...

1. Call them
2. Get it welded locally
3. Go ghetto and JB Weld it.

I did call them and they still think I have a boost leak at one of the tbolt clamps. I really don't think they want to do much so i'm going to have it welded locally. I have a out of town autox this weekend and I really need my car. So if this doesn't fix it then the top mount has to go back on...off to the boost leak test.

t-bolt clamps can be deciving at times. They feel like they are tight but in all reality they are not. Double tripple check and I bet you find some other leaks. Anything that leaks at a weld, fix it. That shouldn't happen.

Try to resituate the coupler. It may be cocked and when you put a crease in it that allows it to fold over or something. I also wasn't happy with the look of the BOV weld. I will leak check mine now also because I never thought to do it before.
