Default UR Downpipe + CS Test Pipe

So I just ordered a catted ultimate racing downpipe to mate to my CS test pipe(65mm exhaust flange).
I was gonna install both at the same time, and after doing some searching, i found some talk about the requirement of a donut gasket to ensure the exhaust system doesn't leak, as well as the requirement of longer studs because the stock ones are too short for the DP to TP connection. Could i get some specs on these?

The UR DP says it has a Proprietary "3-inch Donut Gasket" for a TRUE unrestricted 3-inch design... which is great and all, but does that mean I still need to order the Corksport exhaust donut?

@Ultimate Racing
@CorkSport

@R3L3NTL3S
@Airman3454
I read all of this from your thread, so if i could get a clear answer, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry for my noobness, i've never done any exhaust work on this car before, and i'd like to do it right the first time, so i thought I'd ask MSF!

EDIT: I've confirmed myself that you will need a donut gasket from corksport if you do not have one already. If you don't, you'll get the hotdog in a hallway effect, because the UR donut is too small, and the corksport racepipe flange is too large. With that, it doesn't hurt to get longer bolts, because the ones ultimate racing will be a little short. It's possible, but it'll make your life a little easier.

I will have the same setup ... but I ask before I bough my UR downpipe and it will fit perfectly. You just need to keep your oem donut from your oem testpipe to fit your CS testpipe with your oem exhaust.

Haha nice man! You seem a lot less worried than me about fitment. Are you gonna be using the CS donut gasket? Or are you just gonna simply bolt on to your current set up?

@Bob-o
Did the install today, No problems with install and fitment issues. Took all of 3.5 hours, an hour and a half by myself and the rest with assistance from Antonio @apena85 who always has a way of knowing when to tag in and take over a task just before tools start getting tossed around! Sounds great and moar powah! Did some data logs and saw 299 g/s that's moving some air. Sorry no pics bro, too busy swining wrenches. Any questions PM me.

So I was just looking again at my UR downpipe. The hardware they supplied will NOT fit with my corksport race pipe. First off, the bolts are too small to fit on the racepipe flange. I understand they also supplied washers to widen the connection, but i still would be weary about it.

Secondly, one of the bolts they supplied me has a round head, not a hex. I lol'd at what they supplied me. I guess I'll be go to the hardware store for that.

Lastly, when i loosely tried to put the two pieces together, the donut gasket easily slips into the race pipe. So easily that the DP flange butts up against the mouth of the race pipe. Once it's all bolted up, will this be a tight seal? Or will it leak?

Sorry I'm so paranoid, but i do this they made a mistake on the one bolt

Once i got my corksport exhaust donut, and longer bolts, my setup looks like it will work.
The exhaust donut ultimate racing supply on their downpipe is too small, and will not seal on the corksport downpipe. Because you're getting a bigger donut (corksport) it will make the gap between the DP to racepipe connection larger, thus requiring longer bolts. I'm going to use 3.5" long, 5/8" grade 8 bolts. Paired with matching washers and nuts, this will make the setup work.

But then again, I haven't gotten around to installing it, so what do i know?

I had a UR DP mated with a CS TP for a while. Just make sure that the longer bolts you got will fit through the holes on both parts. I think the holes on the UR DP are a bit smaller than the holes on the CS TP floating flange (could be the other way around, but one side is definitely smaller).

Yes that is correct. The holes on the floating flange on the CS race pipe are larger than the holes on the UR downpipe. I've already test fitted err'thang and 5/8" seems to be the size that works.

We definitly need longuer bolt and another gasket ???

What you choose for your setup ?

Use that garage in your avatar + a couple of space heaters at full tilt for half the day (this will also allow some time for the PB blaster to marinate on the DP bolts, o2 threads and lower strut mount + case of Labatt = UR DP and Bilsteins installed!

But hey, it's 64 degrees tonight (that's 18 celcius for you canucks) here in SoCal so who the hell am I to say anything...

I look forward to your impressions after you install these two mods as I have both the Bilsteins and UR DP on my wish list. Good luck!

I just used the hardware they supplied and there was no issues, I took the day off today so I will have to get under the car and snap some shots for you.

You have any leaks ...

Why you guys use the CS donut ... you feel a leak in your exhaust line ?

I never installed it with the UR donut gasket, so I don't know if there would've been a leak for sure. But when I "test" fit the two together using the UR donut gasket, the flared opening of the TP hit the flange on the DP before it even created a seal, and it seemed like there was some wiggle room for the UR donut gasket to move around.

Only reason why i didn't is for some reason, one of the bolts they supplied had a round head, not a hex head.

I myself took off the gasket ultimate racing supplied and replaced it with the corksport one. The UR one is too small, and doesn't look like it will create a good seal because with corksport's design, the open end that connects DP to RP is larger.
In short, yes you will need longer studs and a CS donut gasket.

@Atomic41 that answer your question?

The reason why we use the CS donut is because the UR one is too small. It doesn't actually contact the walls of the testpipe, it just goes all the way in and the DP flange butts up against the open end of the TP.

Imagine wanting to close a bottle of wine, with a cork that is too small. The cork will either fall out, or in our case, fall into the bottle and do nothing.

EDIT: Heres another visual representation

This donut come already with my CS Racepipe and fit with my OEM Downpipe (NOW) so I don't need to buy another cs donut ?

Yes that is correct. I got my race pipe used, and it didn't come with a donut gasket, so i had to buy one from corksport.

But I remember ... when I install my racepipe.

I use the stock gasket.

So this OEM Stock gasket will do the job again with the UR Downpipe ?

No, the outlet on the UR DP is larger than stock.

Atomic, you're too worried. I'll admit I was at first, but take a look @kritz. He's already done this install, with the setup we have, and his turned out fine. A race pipe is just a pipe, and as long as they are connected properly, there should be no difference between the two. Maybe he wanted to add a resonator? Maybe he just wanted to have an ultimate racing turboback?
