HOW-TO: shaft pivot seal replaced

Thanks for the pics and tips guys. Much appreciated. This requires no special tools or skills beside perhaps the punch to push the pin through.

I did this this afternoon after noticing the telltale gear oil leak at 120k on my 2007 Speed3. Didnt bother with the vent or bearing. What are the symptoms of a bad shaft bearing anyway?

Mark the unit with a mechanics marker as you pull it out so you know how it goes back in and how all the parts align. The pics in the above link help if you didnt mark it.

Is the black rectangular plastic piece supposed to go in vertical or horizontal? For some reason.. my two pivot arms are a lot closer now than they were before taking it apart..

I didn't mark the long rod with the guide pin. Is there only one way it can fit back in, or two? Trying to narrow down my issue.. don't want to break it open again if I don't have to...

Got it. It's horizontal. It was vertical before and I couldn't get into 1st or 4th... And couldn't drop it down into reverse.

Anyone have the part number for it? It damaged it a bit driving with the plastic clip in the vertical position

Old post i know just doing the seal going to put it back together and its(shifter link that goes into transmission) off by like an 8th of an inch. Be at war for a bit with it so close but so far..thanks
