New HID's - What do i need?

Hello,

Im looking to replace my factory lights with some HID's. I've been looking for awhile now and really not sure what i need. Can anyone recommend something with links who has changed out their lights.

Most packages ive seen only comes with 2 lights in them. Would i need to buy 2 of those since the headlight has 2 lights in each light? Sounds like such a noob questions.

Thanks, .. What about bulb color, HID harness, error eliminator, and adaptor cables? =)

All those options its asking for. .. Also what about qty? How many.

What happend to the HID HOW TO guide? Im guessing it got lost in the crash.

hid's are not good for high beam they need a little tie to heat.as for the qty just order one they come as set and they include everything.with 35w you dont need code eliminator.i have the 6000k on my cx and i love it its good combination between looks and performance, 4500k would be the brightest for the 35w.and 5000k would be the brightest for the 55w i have it in my 18 wheeler

Get a set of H7's fopr the lows..

4300K is white, the higher you go, 5000-6000 gets blue then purple...Less than 4300K gets yellow colour.

35Watt is best, if you go with the 55W you'll need to draw more power from you battey hence the harness cables..with a 35W you dont need em.

How easy is the install. I remember looking at the guild before but i dont remember it all. Is it not as simple as popping them out and installing them back again?

The install on h.i.d.'s is cake. you just unplug your headlight and plug in the balast, mount the ballast and plug you new bulb into the ballast...I have 6k in my ms3 and its about the same color as acura lights maybe a little more blue, 5k is white...I cant believe they are only $35 now I bought mine a year ago and I paid $70 damit

har har, the set i bought were 130 on sale... those were for the tribby though. easy enough to install. about the same time as replacing a bulb.

Got the pass side mounted behind the relay box. The drivers side is mounted on the inside of the fender next to the battery box.

driver side with some double sided tape on the fuse box cover and the pass side is the same but on some black plastic thing? lol

Driver side on the front of the fuse box down low so it's hidden. Pass side is on the inside of the fender. I used the heavy duty 3m double sided tape, not the cheap shit they came with.

I've ordered a Volt Digital H7 kit from kbcarstuff.com. Looks like nice quality.

I received it and tried to install it, but I managed to break the hook part from the headlamp while undoing the stupid clip Mazda decided to put there.

Now the halogen bulb is only retained in place by the rubber thingy. I read somewhere that JB Weld can be used to glue the hook thing back on, otherwise I have to buy a new headlamp assembly.



I'm thinking I should complain to Mazda about this bad design and have it replaced under warranty. What are my chances?

slim im sure. but youre right about the jb weld repair. read it on the other forum. seems like a crap design for sure. what sux is that im planning on ordering some new hid bulbs, 6000k phillips ds2, as mine are four years old and always on and seem to have lost some of their efficacy. not looking forward to it...

I haven't got around to it yet, but I'll give my dealer an earful about this for sure.

Weird, the headlight seems to be unaffected by this. It doesn't move or flicker (yet).

just an fyi for your battle, i was reading the owners manual and it states in there to take your car to the dealership to have them replace main bulbs. im sure this has something to do with the crap design... anyway, just an fyi.

I read that too. It mentions that for HID equipped cars, not for halogen, though (if I remember right)

I also partially broke my plastic clip thingy when installing my hid kit. It doesnt seem to affect it. I got it to hook onto the part i broke off. and it is very steady. now it is just easier to undo, but def not easier to put back on

On this did anyone have a issue replacing the covers ? Change mine and got led's in there (tight fit) but found the covers didn't really pop back in to place ... I checkmate rubber seals and had a couple cracks it ... Seems perfectly aligned but just no confidence in the clip back in.
