Default OCC installation (where to attach the can)

Trying to install a JBR OCC... but I can't find where to attach the can as I don't see any holes where the JBR (MS3 btw) instructions say.

If I use an already used hole I might need a piece of metal to mount as base. Has anyone done this?

Thanks

I had to drill a couple of holes in the frame under the airbox to mount the OCC.

Hardest part was getting the PCV hose off.

I considered that procedure, and beause a normal drill will not fit inside there... oh kay, that I will have to do. Thanks for clearing doubts, it's the best place with out doubt.

As for the PCV hose, with the chance of breaking it... but I already removed it to make a major repair on the engine recently, so it won't be that big of a deal now: not sure if because it's clean or because my hands know the way

A normal drill will fit with a bit of work. You will have to remove the airbox to make room, but it's very straight forward.

Thanks, will do...

I haven't got the chance to start installing the OCC on the CX7 yet, the MS3 required my attention.

One more question which you might be able to answer: my CX7 is tuned and it has increased boost, and since I did this back in 2009 I had issues with oil leaks whenever the oil levels were above parameters (when trying not to waste the last drops from the last Qt bottle), and when leaving the oil level below that all is OK except whenever I run the CX7 fast when I park it and exit the vehicle I smell oil evaporation.

Both leak and the evaporation fumes probably come from the same place: intake hose...

Would the OCC and Check Valve help? The PCV might not be doing it's normal job, its 2007 after all, and maximum boost reach 17.5 psi.

Just wondering, to solve more than just oil evaporation issue.

Thanks.

I always make sure that the oil level is at the top of the fill line. If you over fill your oil, you should drain a little out to get at or 'slightly' below the fill line. Over filling can be just as bad as under filling.

I have the Stage 2 JBR OCC that has a check valve in it. During the summer months, i get very little oil gathering in the catch can. But during the winter months, i get a lot more accumulation driving the same way as during the summer. I don't drive my CX7 as a daily, i have a company truck for that. Seeing that you're in Mexico, I doubt you'll be at freezing or below freezing for very long.

I would change the PCV while you have everything apart. I believe it's under $15 for the part & you might as well change it, especially if you haven't done so since you've owned it.

Also, If you're wailing on the car just before you shut the engine off, you're supposed to let the engine idle for a minute or two before you shut the engine off. I've always done this & haven't really smelled anything unusual after this. If you're really going to town on it, i'd let it idle for a few more minutes just to get everything cooled down.

The smell might be from what you oil you're using. I switched to Rotella T6 & have never looked back. I would use a full synthetic if you're not doing so already.

Why the need to drill? There's a 10mm bolt in the frame that can be removed to mount the OCC. I've got dual Damond OCCs hanging from this bolt.

I don't see this hole, the only ones are holding the gold color electric component... and YES I was expecing a hole between that thing and the radiator... but there is nothing.

Please do, if you can... it could be helpful.

But why my CX7 doesn't has a hole there... or was the suggestion for the Speed instead (previous post). Mystery... nice he he

on the CX7... the MS3 installation was child's play in comparison.

I haven't got the chance to try installing (drilling) it again (CX7!)... having little time lately and it was spent on the MS3 regarding other issues, hopefully fixed today.
