2008 MS3 GT HID to LED conversion?

Hello all,

Is there a way to convert the OE HID headlights to LED? I assume I'd need an adapter harness to go from the 12v power plugs that go into the ballasts right to a pair of H11 headlight bulbs?

I've searched online, but can't find anyone who has done this yet so I am not sure it's possible. I'd like to go to LED because of issues with ballasts.

i would get a non hid harness + non hid head lamps from a non GT model or base hatch.
But will it really worth to change hid issues to led issues ?

On my non GT model, when i converted halogen to hid, i made them to be my daytime lights so once i turn on the key, ballst power up and stay on. This way it didn't flicker by turning on and goes off while starting. It even stay on while being high beam...I ran this setup for many years and just replaced both bulbs once...

Well I guess I can keep the HID system, but I just think they are getting tired. 12 years/225k miles on the bulbs/ballasts. I guess I can start with two new bulbs first and see how that works. My other option is to replace the OE system with an aftermarket HID plug and play system.

@Frequentflyer;
There are D2S LED retrofit bulbs. You just have to figure out how to supply 12V.

I know that HIDs will have better light distribution than LED retrofit bulbs because of how the LED chips are mounted. I'd stick with HIDs but it's up to you if you want to experiment.
