Default Drag racing tips

Alright so i plan on taking my Speed3 to the drag strip on October 30th. I was just looking for some pointers on this car at the track. I've been down the track a few times before in my Mustang so this isn't my first time. but It WILL be my first time with the Speed3.

My current setup is the following;

Cobb SR intake
Corksport Catback
CPE stage 2 RMM
Stage 2 93oct Cobb OTS tune (not so great i know)
wilwood 4 piston brakes
EVO X wheels (4.8lbs lighter then OEM)
225/45/18 Continential DWS tires
H&R springs
Koni Yellows

I've searched around and havent found a solid thread with tips about drag racing on here, so in hopes the the community will give some feedback.

Two questions i have right off the back is

1) Tips on how to launch, because from what ive seen on here it can be difficult to launch these cars from a dig. do i want traction control on or turn it off?

2) is it worth my time setting up the launch control option from the V3?

Ok here is some of my tips but let me be the first to tell you fyck l.c. You are way better off feathering the tb off the line. A easy way to think about it is act like you want to come off of a stop light hard but not race mod.

So that mean give it gas and come off the clutch hard but smooth, dont just release it. This will take some practice but it will be better overall for you.

Also lowing tire pressure on ur dws(i have dws also) will help alot but be warned you will eat up ur shoulder of the tire. I would start by going down to 20 psi on them.

Thats my little something to get u in the right direction. I pulled a 2.2 60ft on the dws would is a really good 60ft on street tire and may i add on all season tires at that. Good luck. Just remember to have fun

My best time in my 3 with dws tires was tc off, slipping the clutch without lc shifting into 2ND after 15/20 ft.
Put a rmm on the car first or you'll probably get alot of wheel hop.

Traffic control off.

Keep the dws in the mid twenties or you won't have a full contact patch

Don't do a burnout you will overheat the compound

Launch as smoothly as possible

Ride first all the way to redline

i didn't even think to drop the tire pressure a little bit before racing! glad to know other people have gone to the strip with DWS's lol

traction control off it is then lol, and i didnt plan on doing a burnout its usually useless on a street tire let alone an All Season tire. and i thought shifting at redline wasn't as usefull as shifting around 5500 RPM's because the Ko4 falls on its face closer to redline ?

By traction control you should disable swas as a real solution. No way around it.

Launch around 3200 and ride the clutch letting it slip a little. Feather throttle. I pulled a few 2.0 60s with shitastic tires on a 93 tune.
Thanks for the tips, i was curious at what RPM to launch at

and how would one go about disabling that? and wouldn't that make the torque steer much worse ?

Depends on the year of your car...I know gen 2 can hold TC button down for 30 seconds to disable.

Unplug it. A couple of screws from the underside of the steering column and it just unplugs.
You'll have to search for the howto . It just takes a few minutes.
I had mine unplugged all the time.
