Default Shaking off the Cobb webs 11.37@135

Had a chance to get back out there for the first time this season. Damn long New England winters. Goal was to match how I finished off last season. 60ft just wasn't there at all. Track was pretty slick, but man the air was perfect. Started at about 400da and got a little better as the night went on. Was able to round up a few decent passes though and got a best of 11.379@135. Next pass I got a warning to slow it down so I will have to be very strategic on any further 1/4 mile passes without a minimum of a roll bar. I will likely just make short passes to dial in the short track and once I can get consistent 7.15-7.2 at the 1/8th mile I will make a full pass.

Nice slips! That MPH is good for 10's if you can get that 60ft down! Whenever I get told to slow down at the track I put everything in to one last Hail Mary pass and hope for the best. Track I go to doesn't remember faces or cars week to week though.

Unfortunately they know me. But they were way cool about it. Just told me to dial it back a touch and I could go back out if I wanted. So next order of business is to get this rear suspension setup better. There is way too much squat, and I lose a lot of momentum. It also rubs my rear fenders slightly on my skinnies when launching or hitting 2nd hard.

Running 15x8 McCormack wheels wrapped in 26x8.5 MH slicks
Then 15x4 McCormack wheels in the rear wrapped in 165/80 r15 nexen tires

We'll be back out there. Beginning of the year, the track is always a little slick for good 60ft's. We have a couple big events coming up and the days are getting a little warmer. So track will/should get better and better until the dead heat of summer rolls in.

I'm swapping my rear springs out this week, and hopefully be back out there withing the next 2 weeks. I'm hoping to get a couple more 60fts in the 1.7's like I was able to get last season. I really need a low 1.7 60ft to even have a chance at a 10.99 pass.

I'm really hoping next time out I can get the 60ft back down into the 1.7's as that will make all the difference. I think I will need to get a low 1.7 to make the 7.1-7.2 1/8th mile time needed for a 10.9x

Ported head with stock valve train. The crank and cams are not keyed or pinned. Just good ol factory friction washers.

I just run meth injection for octane and supplemental fuel

alright thank you for getting back to me on that. I'm actually in the process now of building my car. doing a 6266 setup. i fried the rings so now we sleeved it, manley rods, and custom wiseco pistons. ill be going 6th port injection with a goal of 500whp. i was told i need to key and pin the cranks and get aftermarket valves... what is your opinion on that? think its needed? I've seen a few people around 500 say they haven't done that so just curious.

@rowdypinnock; 550whp on stock crank washer setup. If you are going for more than key the crank, if you are going with stiffer valve springs, pin the cams as well.

There is a thread somewhere that the stock valve springs were measured at 70lbs, same as Supertech but OEM reached coil bind sooner if you were to use a highlift cam or were going to have a powerband that would reach it's peak around 7500rpm and over.

Stock valve train reaching 7000rpm and 500whp is more than capable from the research i have done on build threads (mainly the Freek Built cars) and they seem to hold together daily driven and punished, once my motor is broken in i will also hopefully test that theory lol

I rev my car to 7200 and with stock valve springs. And could potentially go higher if needed. But I'm able to go 135+ in 4th gear which is way more than enough for me.

Keying and pinning imo is not needed. Does it hurt anything. No. But is it needed. That's a never ending debate. Go with what you are comfortable with.
