(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Sorry if this has been posted before, I did some research and there hasn't been many "new" threads. To start, I got hooked doing AutoX in my 2014 mazda3 and now I autox somewhat competitively with my 2012 speed3 in STX. Suspension setup is KW v1s and JBR .125 RSB at the stiffest. I remove my freektune and run the stock tune when at events so i'm not in DSP. Wheels + tires right now are PSS on stock snowflakes. Returned the 225/40 RE71rs to costco (awesome return policy) for a new set of PSS that are on my wedssports. I plan to get 17x8 +~42ish wheels with 245/40/17 tires. I'm leaning towards the RE71R again but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience driving/riding in a car with the new BFG Rival S 1.5 that came out the first week of Feb. Wheel size for G-Street? was my resource Also, I have a JBR 3in intake so I bought Corksports battery box because I wanted to keep the ECU covered and not have to velcro it to my stock box like I did over summer. Unfortunately the box has failed tech twice and I didn't get a refund on my regi . After the first I put pieces of wood in the box to prevent movement, second club here didn't like that. CS have been awesome and have helped me problem solve but even installed properly, the battery still slides around when you push it and the ABS flexes. I was thinking trackmaster without the fire causing extension or a 51r box. I'm weary of the 51r batteries because I drive my car everyday for work for small trips; 10km to work and maybe ~4-5 other trips totaling 30km a day. I've been getting conflicting advice on the 51r being bad for my driving. I also have a celllink-b and blackvue that are hardwired to an accessory fuse (on when in accessory or engine on only) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Club is now okay with pieces of wood in the CS battery box to prevent movement. Still on the fence for a 51r box. I ended up purchasing another set of 225/40/18 re71r for the snowflakes as we have a $70 off rebate in Canada right now. Did an event today in the pouring rain (20mm today) and they handled really well. Ended up 4th overall RAW (of 110 cars) and 3rd in the street touring class (damn s2ks and miatas). Found 33F/35R the optimal pressures for my driving style. If anyone here is from BC/WA you should come to more local events. Theres 1-3 autox events monthly, even during winter. Last month I went to an event on a Saturday and it was 13C and sunny, then the follow day with another club it snowed ~3 inches and it was a fun event full of drifting |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Next time just buy the 245 re71s. I ran them on my stock wheels with no issues. Nothing wrong with the 225 though. I used to run 38-37/40-42 depending on surface. Ran a bunch of toe out on the rear, can't quite remember the exact #s but was like 1/4" total out and 1/16 total out on the front. I ran in GS with stock suspension but the same bar.

Also signed up for 3 track days at Area27 (Track < Area 27: Discover Your Life On Track). I will probably burn through the re71rs sooner than later. I know the re71rs are not the best for track in terms of tire wear, but for a rookie like myself, I'll probably cook the brakes more than the tires. @ztnedman1 how are you liking the Z06? I started my autox addiction with our local BC Corvette Club and those cars were insanely fast. Some of the more experienced guys made it look so easy using their throttle to control the rear end. | |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I drove an Evo X + S2K last few events. I regret selling my old 89 miata daily, RWD is so much fun. That being said I still love my MS3 too much to switch platforms/classes. I think the kw v1s are too soft in the rear and not rotating at all. That and my lack of front/rear camber adjusment I think in winter for our two club's "Slush series" i'll switch back to stock setup or B8/Swift if funds allow it (damn Canadian pesos) and run TR C3 17x9 with some 245s or 255s. I also saw Ziggyboy's homemade 51r mount for the stock battery box and that's also planned for winter. 50+ runs already and 1 more autox before my track day. Looks like my RE71rs are only going to last half a season ![]() |

| Not Ranked : 0 score FWIW I ran a 51r on my last 6 and didn't have any issues starting the car in Michigan winters. The only time I had any starting issues was after it'd sit for like 2+ weeks without being run. That was with the battery still connected too. If you leave you car sitting for weeks at a time regularly it'd be a good idea to invest in a cheap tender.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I run the JBR 51 battery box and an Optima yellow top. The Optma was sliding all around on track days until I got the JBR box. Now it stays put without any of that wood shit. I drive short and long trips and survive Utah and Idaho winters with the 51R - no problems. Take the plunge and remove ~10 lbs. from the front of your car.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Addicted to track days so I signed up for two more events this Summer. Track days here in BC are $600 a day for ~100-120 mins of driving. Jelly of you US guys and your <$200 fees Also put in new rotors/pads as the old rotors had a nice lip at the edge. Centric premium slotted + ebc yellows + SS lines. My drivers side brake hard line flare was wider than the threads on the nut so I had to shave it down a bit to get the new SS fitting over it. Kinda sketch so I'm going to order a new hard line. It seemed fine however with no leaks when I did very hard brake tests at the autox pad when they were cleaning up the cones after the event.. ... aaaaand all 4 KW struts are now leaking oil. Ordered B8s, Swift Spec Rs, and top hats/bearings. Most likely will do the shaved tab to lower the fronts to prevent reverse rake and contemplating doing the internal bump stop mod. Since the speed is down I've been driving an S2K CR the past few autox events. It's going to be so depressing going back to FWD |
