Default tuners in upstate NY

Hello guys, I am a previous MSP Protege owner sand am currently looking to purchase another one. I found one in NJ that is modified with bigger turbo, headers, big intercooler etc that was running on a piggy back ECU. The piggy back went bad so it's now back to the factory ECU settings. Because of the mods, it runs fine if you stay out of boost. The guy said it needs a new piggy back and a tune. My question is, are they any tuners for these cars in upstate NY or near by ? Or, based on your experience and knowledge, is this a car I should avoid. You can see it on cars.com. It's in Delran NJ. Thanks for the help

I'm a newbie when it comes to tuning. The guy selling it said it needs a piggy back ECU and a tune. Is it possible ti tune the factory ECU to accom0date the bigger turbo, intercooler, headers etc without a separate piggy back ECU ?

Unichip? http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/u...-p-128700.html

And no, I would not drive until tuned.

I'm sure there are alternatives, to unichip. It's pretty much garbage based on what I remember.

Split Second
AEM
Haltech
Wolfe 4D
Mega Squirt

Split Second probably has the most support for it. Haltech 500 or 1000 is a good starting point though for the mods you have. Expensive though.
I have a Split second on mine but the first version. If you decide SS look for the 2nd version. It gives you ability to tune timings as well as AF. first version only does AF
