Why do you think changing the flange would make it perform worse? And the 2.5" neck won't make any difference on the stock turbo anyways.

Oh and I have a CorkSport downpipe with the stock 2.5" flange, bolted up to an Ultimate Racing CBE with a 3" flange with no issues.

Damn, those are some of the nastiest, and worst tig weld's I've seen in a while. The perosity is incredible! I'd be irate if I got that from them. Not trying to bash CP-e either, but that should have never ever passed a quality control test. Send that shit back.

Don't get me wrong, I have a CP-e DP on my Gen2 and the welds were damn near flawless, maybe your DP was made by a different person that normally doesn't weld there stuff?! Lol, lets hope so!

the taper to 2.5 is to fit with the stock exhaust. However, once you get rid of the stock exhaust the taper is retarded. I have a cnt 3 inch catless sitting in my room...i wounder sometimes what if.

They make two different catbacks. One has the stock flange and one is 3".

I just want to say I went with an ebay downpipe after doing extensive resesrch on the forums and from the looks of it my welds looked so much better and I actually have a true bellmouth. I'd say if they don't give you a different one send it back and go eBay. .

I completely disagree and here's why - You should have a quality product at your doorstep the first time quickly. THAT is good customer service, not dealing with Friday welds from someone who shouldn't have a job anymore (I could do better with my $100 Harbor Freight flux-core welder,) and then getting it fixed.

Props to CP-e for damage control and getting shit fixed, but let's be honest - if you got that shit from SURE or E-Bay, this place would be losing it's collective motherfucking mind lol

Quality control sometimes breaks down, that being said I would be upset as well. I have had my share of product issues. But if you go about things an a slightly different manor you usually come out on top. Manufacturers don't like bad press, it is easy to just go off the handle and air dirty laundry, but if the OP contacted CP-e without all the drama I am sure he would have been compensated with product or discount. Not saying that the DP should not have been delivered with a stack of dimes type of weld in the first place, just saying that CPe or any other producer of parts would like chance to make good before being bashed. It is all in the reaction and response of the individual that will evoke the bashing effect that happened to 'Sure'.

My DP looked the same on the inside of the flange... Edges everywhere that could cause turbulence. Emailed cpe and they said "it will not cause a problem" and that the edges was common.
Im overseas so returning it wasnt really an option

No problem on the other welds though, but still, i was not 100% satisfied. Having paid $700+ for some stainless steel tube one would expect perfection

Just to keep everyone updated, CP-E has done a great job handling this. I've even decided I want to go a different route with my downpipe choice and they are still helping to make sure everything is squared away between me, the vendor I purchased the DP from, and CP-E themselves. IMO, it is not the occasional bad part that should speak for a company, but rather how they handle the situation of a customer receiving a bad part.


I'm glad they didn't blame it on installer error or improper torque specs. Too soon?
