for some footage of the exhaust note on a race track, fast forward to 5:18

At idle its 81 decibels (with a cp-e catted dp), so theres no point in posting that... my laptop speakers dont capture anything from the videos.

I like the sound of this exhaust and I think I can get it gf approved since it lowers the in cabin noise. Now I just have to listen to her.

I recently took a road trip to cp-e with my 6 week old baby, she slept the whole way with this exhaust, catted cp-e dp/nexus exhaust. She only woke up when she needed changing or was hungry. I will be making a video of sound clips inside and outside the car.

Will try to get it done this weekend. My wife has been dealing with extreme vertigo limiting my time(currently sitting in a waiting room waiting for her to finish an MRI.) On top of that the hero3 I ordered was getting static noise caused by the bass in the exhaust. Got an external mic, and that mostly fixed the static issue, so I will try to get a Cobb clip on Sunday, swap the exhaust angle get the Nexus clip. Hopefully posting up Sunday night.

Cobb catback:

CP-e Nexus:

A cop pulled onto the on-ramp behind when I tried to start the CP-e video in the same location as the Cobb video. If you go to 2:25 in the Cobb video, that is the same location as the CP-e video starts (if you want to get a 1 to 1 comparison). I can go back and do the CP-e video over later if need be (starting from the same location as the Cobb video.)

A few notes. I have some video of cruising around surface streets with the Cobb exhaust, but it has crackling static in it. I can upload that and also try to get some video of the Nexus cruising around on surface streets if there is enough interest in that. Same for outside the car video, have it with the Cobb exhaust, can get it with the Nexus if need be. In both cases there will be crackling static. Can't use the external mic with the full case on the GoPro and I am not driving around with the GoPro on the outside of the car with out the full case on.

I will post up some impressions after I drive around on it a little bit. It is extremely easy to install with the clamps. One recommendation, loosely join the resonator and z-pipe using the clamp before hanging the resonator on the car (the instructions have you hang the resonator first and this made it a little more difficult than it needed to be.

I was noticing they sounded similar in the clips as well. That really isn't the case. The Nexus is actually louder (and more agressive sounding) in almost all conditions than the COBB was. Need to drive around a little more to make a determination on drone, which is what I was concerned about.

So some further impressions. The exhaust is louder than the COBB exhaust in every situation except for drone. Almost fuck you and your Harley loud. For cruising drone, this exhaust is an improvement. But even a little throttle and it gets loud. The videos don't really give a good comparison (I think maybe the camera was adjusting audio levels.)

Not only is the Nexus louder, but it also has a more agressive sound. Closer to what WRX are typically known for than anything else I can think of, but that isn't quite it either. None of the videos I have seen posted really accurately represent it. I think it is one people who are interested are going to have to find a way to check out in person.

With my set up, the Nexus has less drone than the Cobb in the 60-80 MPH range in 6th. Outside of that, it is significantly louder than the Cobb. The Cobb also didn't have the drone issue before I built when I was running it with a catted CPe downpipe. I would say for the majority of people who want a quiet exhaust, Cobb is probably the way to go.

Hey @Erich;, fuq you and your extended tips. I had an S256 on a 1g Talon and I got horrible gas mileage because I would blip the throttle all the time just to hear the whistle. Ah, the memories...

@Erich; how has everything settled with the exhaust? you still happy with the sound and drone level at cruise speeds? I am still trying to decide what way to go, currently running a stock w/o resonators and I am over the drone. I need something new.

Impressions haven't changed. Louder than the Cobb I had in every situation but highway drone. Less highway drone cruising in the 60-80 MPH range. If you are looking for quite, the Cobb was quite everywhere with the catted Cobb downpipe I had before I built the engine. If you want a nice aggressive sound with little highway drone, the Nexus is definitely a good option.

Just ordered the Nexus today from Edge. Look forward to getting it installed. I almost went with the Cobb but I've always been a fan of how the cp-e sounds. Nothing will be as quiet as my oem CBE but thats also restricting for the power goals I have in mind. Guess i'll have to find a good home for my oem CBE. Thanks for posting these videos everyone!

Roger that. Will be coming out of an Arizona car so no rust as my car sees rain maybe 5 times a year and no snow ever.

I was under the impression that a catback did not need CARB certification, only that it had to comply with the SAE 95dB rating?

some cops are jerks.

k&n gets certifications on their intakes.
it would just be nice to have, for any catback in cases like mine where the cop said it was too loud and you have to go to court.

No problems since none of the law enforcement in Iowa own db testing equipment the judge just asked me to goto any muffler shop and have them say my muffler isn't defective.
