Updates on CP-e Stage 2 Pistons

so when i took my motor apart after lifting my head i found some startling things. I had a few knicks on the top of my pistons from my exhaust valves making contact and i had also lost all 4 of my oil squirters. Now i do have aftermarket cams and i never checked the piston to valve clearance before i installed them because i diddent remove the head. However, the marks below indicate that there is no way i had actual interference and that it must have been an isolated valve float event that cause them to kiss the pistons.






im also not entirely sure why i was missing all of my oil squirters because the machine shop that bent them for me has done it several times in the past and i did not have any interference problems when checking the motor rotation on the stand. They could have bent back due to heat or who else knows lol.



I brought this to the attention of @www.cp-e.com; and asked them if they could make some basic changes to their stage 2 pistons to avoid even the remote chance of this happening in the future. They were technically never designed to be run with aftermarket cams and so far they had not seen a problem with the oil squirters coming off but they decided it would be in their best interest's to remove even the chance of this happening again. So they went back to their supplier and had them add reliefs for the exhaust values and for the squirters to give them even more clearance. I have been told that these will be manufactured like this from here on out but so far they havent seen any problems with their already released sets.

I am thinking about replacing my OTS Wisecos with these since I have everything apart already. Anthony said they will manufacture the pistons with the revision from now on, but if I ordered today would I receive what's left over from the old stock?

I have stage 2 pistons that I got over Xmas that are not installed yet, but no aftermarker cams nor will I ever I would say...

Is it worth returning mine to get the updated version

These won't be available for a little while yet. JP from EdgeAutosport contacted CP-e for me. These will be put into production once their old stock is gone, but JP offered to place them on order so they will ship out as soon as they produce them if needed.

Keep in mind that the original design works just fine as long as oil squirter clearances are checked. The new design will give a little more peace of mind with upgraded cams though.
