Blending paint on an 08 True Red

Ok guys my rear driver's side door was busted up by a guy not paying attention and now it is getting replaced. In the process the collision shop is going to blend the paint on the rear quarter panel rear door and front door. I have discussed the option of repainting the whole car and I pay the difference but the collision shop keeps pretty much telling me 'No' and that they can flawlessly blend the old and new paint. I'm supposed to bring it in on Monday to start the repairs and i'm really unsure about this whole blending business. Especially on an older Red paint. So i'm searching for anyone who can provide useful advice on this. I'm tempted to go with another color but even if I stick with red i would prefer to repaint the entire car. Any help is appreciated.

I had a bumper and fender painted true red and it matches really well, no blending either. As far as I'm aware, blending just ups the cost. Since the insurance company is paying for it, the shop will always do more work. Although blending always is a good idea.

That makes me a little less worried about the front fender not matching the door. I know the guys are well known for their quality but im still a bit skeptical. How old was your paint when you had your bumper done?

My impression is you are over thinking this. The shop is only blending the color (base)
coat about 6 inches and then clearcoating the entire adjacent panels for gloss and
protection. Its done every day. Thousands of times. Everywhere. Relax and let them
do their jobs.

Haha alright man. I don't know all that much about paint but i've had a few friends tell me to be weary about them able to color match. I just don't want to end up in a situation where it ends up looking like crap. And they also said they are doing only a blend and not a refinish if that helps with any advice.

You'll be fine, I just had the work done and drive an 08.5. True red, although an interesting color (red changes hues) it's still an easy color to match. Metallics and other colors can be much, much harder to match.
