I'm really starting to like what the guys are doing on the plasti-dip forums. Some of the cars these cars are turning out are really nice.. and being able to simply peel the coating off is soooo appealing.

Make sure you do gunmetal then white then blaze. Blaze colors are a little transparent and the white is thinner then reg plasti dip, so charcoal or gunmetal are used as primers.

I'm reading some of the blaze colors fade super quickly too. They are working on a fix but most of the guys with flourescent and success with custom colors are using pigments or powders.

How well does the plasti-dip hold up to a scrub brush for cleaning wheels and such?

Just curious, I'd really like to give this a shot to try and get a nice bronze...

I see a lot of guys waxing their plastidip with sprays like meguiars ultimate quik wax and most people are recommending using a no touch wheel cleaner.

I would think a soft bristle brush would work just fine too.

Plasti-dip seems pretty tough when you apply enough coats.

I've never understood why people cover the tire up when spraying plastidip on the rims. Not like it doesn't come off. Lol.

Came out pretty good though.

I've had blaze orange and blaze blue on mt genpu. Both times i use 1 can of white per 2 wheels. Just back and fort til the can was gone. Then i use 1 can of color per wheel til the cans were gone. Had the orange for 2 months never faded. Blue for about 2 months now not fading.

For cleaning. The DYC website has a product called BDP(brake dust pro) works good. I had it and was pleased. Bit pricey i think for a 32oz bottle. But its 100% touchless.

I'm just wondering if it will survive going through the car wash I go to inbetween hand washes... Cleans the car up nice, and has brushes that clean the wheels pretty well.

Just don't go where it's automatic and it moves u thru the car wash on its own cuz it will peel from the wheel slider thing. Had this happen then touched it up. It never really got back to like it was and both fronts peeled on a San Diego to Phoenix trip. I recommend index cards cuz the overspray does not come off easy like they say, there is always some left

I'm going to touch up the wheels soon, has anyone tried just spraying over the original stuff, without pealing and restarting? I wonder if it would stick just as good, after a good cleaning and pre dip spray? It sticks well to itself, and it should make pealing the next time even easier with how thick it would be..thoughts?

Check this video out and there are a few others. Although I'm sure that DYC's proprietary

solvent is excellent, I've seen people do similar repairs with Xylene, which is available @ any

Home Depot.

I would NEVER use any of those car washes that use a tire rail.. those things are evil.

That's what this one is, unfortunately it does a fantastic job cleaning up the car. Are you refering to the slider that the tire/wheel may bump into to keep the tire in the track? The tires I have, have the rim protectors and are a little wider than stock on the stock wheels, so the rim is a not really flush with the tires.

Either way, thanks for the feedback!
