Engine bay lights

It's always bothered me that Mazda decided not to include something as simple and useful as an engine bay light.

I'm sure most of you will agree that having a light come on when you open the hood makes everything you do in that area much easier.

Well, I found this through Corksport CORKSPORT Underhood LED Light Kit

Comes with everything you need to complete the job, except tools.

I highly recommend this to every single Mazdaspeed owner who ever works on their car. The light output is amazing. It's the equivalent of having a shop light mounted in your engine bay.

The kit comes with a mounted pin switch that shuts off the light when you close the hood. So, you don't have to worry about LED's staying on in your engine bay while you're driving (Rice).

Anyone who ever wrenches on their car at night, this is an absolute must!!!!

I know I'm reviewing a fucking light here, but for serious, this thing is all function.

I'm seriously considering getting the kit soon. Working on the car in the winter sucks when I go outside to work on it at 3 or 4 and the suns already so low that I need to use a flashlight.

It's worth every penny not having to hold a flashlight to look at your motor.

Mine has already paid for itself in convenience.

That's a great idea. Note to anyone else with CS points.

This is a pretty cool kit and fairly cheap! It's on my short list for sure!

JLee1469 05-09-2012 12:19 PM

I had a coupler pop off at night once and this would've been incredibly useful. Will allocate it to my June budget. Thanks for the tip!

SofaKingAwesome 05-09-2012 01:26 PM

Also, I believe the calendar deal next month is half off the kit.
BTW I'm mad at you Corksport, eat a dick.

I honestly didn't know there would be enough output to actually see and thought it was for show. I'm really glad you posted this.

I'm ordering one right now.

Led's are great too becuase they draw so little power.

Exactly the same reason I didn't get them either. I'll be getting them in June for free :)

I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but I said fuck it and got it anyway.

I need an engine bay light and this thing kicks ass.

I'll post some pics so you guys can see what the install looks like.

You have to have thick skin guy or girl to be on this forum

Tomas 05-10-2012 02:34 PM

I always wear an underpants LED kit.
Also all function.

Are you sure this post wasn't meant for the other thread?

SofaKingAwesome 05-10-2012 02:42 PM

LMFAO

DuoofDeath1 06-05-2012 12:48 PM

If you buy the corksport calendar, there is a code for June that makes this kit half price. I just purchased it last night with some reward points for $13. Can't beat that

KevMS6 06-05-2012 12:55 PM

Will check this out for sure :)

CS Underhood LED installed :) Looking good!!
Since ive got the 6 mps it took some adjustments and adding small washers for the Pin Switch

Im satisfied :)

DuoofDeath1 06-13-2012 02:58 PM

Where did you put the washers? I installed mine but it does not make contact with the hood enough to turn the light off and it is as far up as i can put it. Corksport hasn't replied on how to fix it.

SpeedRebirth 06-13-2012 03:03 PM

This is how i did it. It put it in the hole right in front ot the headlight
This kit is best for the MS3 10+
I dont know how its would look on the first gen MS3

Not enough light output for me, looks really blue-ish instead of white, and why kill the battery when you work on things for long periods of time? This seems like more of a "let me show my friends what I have under the hood" type of an accessory. For actual car work, get a nice shop light "(also LED) that provides 10X the light output and can be recharged or hooked up to an outlet, and costs much less. But to each their own, I suppose.

Spoofmastafly 12-03-2014 09:16 AM

Would take that little led a while to burn through the battery. Im sure the majority of us would disconnect the battery or switch if it was going go be a long install.

I think he was referring to the fact that you revived a thread that has been dead for 2.5 years.
