you're first mistake is reading your stock "boost Gauge" as anything more than an On-Off light.

You need an aftermarket boost monitoring source (manual or electronic Boost Gauge) to tell if you're in fact not hitting 15-16psi.

If you're not, then the first step would be checking all connections on the intake so you can rule out air leaks (because that's what the problem would be). You can go ahead and do that now anyway, for peace of mind. Spray silicone around all connections for extra peace of mind.

The top bar on the stock gauge will always flicker on and off...the Gen2 wont hold max PSI throughout the entire RPM range without a third party tune.

Not much that you could of left loose, but if it worked fine before the install just recheck all the clamps. What are your boost numbers at?

i know its not a reliable source on telling me the psi, but before the intake it would at least show it went all the way to 15psi. im going to recheck all the clamps.

the boost it shows is maybe 1 or 2 squares before it hits the max 15 psi., and when i was in high rpm's last night i saw the boost drop a little when i was aroung 5k

I'm not sure what the stock boost levels look like, but I would not be the least bit surprised if it tapered towards red line. All that hot air and nothing to cool it.

Without logs it's impossible to say, but seeing as the stock tune is load targeting and not boost targeting, you could just be hitting your load targets at a lower psi for whatever reason.

Everyone on here has given you great advice. A leak in one little spot could cause it, but far more likely, since you haven't tuned the ECU with an AP to tell it it's getting more air and to adjust the f/a ratio, the ECU is just trying to meet the factory tuning parameters. The K04 (and every turbo) is computer controlled and doesn't know what to do with all the extra air it's getting. This will keep it from spooling up properly and your entire system will run like shit. As you'll come to read all over this and every forum, an AP is the first thing you want to get before starting ANY upgrades. Once you do, do some logs so that experienced tuners on here can show you what is going wrong..
Your ECU will do some adjusting on its own as it goes through the "adjustment period" to a certain degree. So you may find it improves a bit on its own. But without logging, your running the risk of a complete fail if it doesn't, at very least, have an OTS flash to tell it it's getting more air. You also haven't upgraded your internals and the factory ones may not be able to keep up. This is a very dangerous fail if your running lean. Search and read and don't go boom!

I had the same problems on my 09, would only hit 12psi on occasion (monitoring on AP)... would only happen so often. I was also getting a stuttering problem.

First place I would look is inside the filter, see if the little air straightener has fallen or shifted out of the MAF. Mine was rattling inside the filter and under partial accel it would get sucked in sideways into the MAF and cause all kinds of chaos, preventing the turbo witchcraft from occurring to its full potential. Check there before you start ripping the whole thing out.

Just a thought. I know pu's are more probe to fuel pump issues. Is it possible adding an intake is causing fuel/boost cut? Also, is this intake only or intake and turbo inlet? If you got the tip too, check and make sure the nipples are not clogged. My sure intake had hot clue stuck in one and only let me hit 10 psi.
