Default BC Racing Coilovers 2010 MS3 Review

Sorry I have been ignoring the forums lately - between work and school my life has been an utter mess. However, I did manage to throw on a Cobb SF Intake and some BC Racing coilovers.

The install was pretty straightforward - only took a couple hours. The coilovers are ride-height fully adjustable with a ridiculous number of damper settings. I set the suspension at mid-range firmness (15 clicks), and I've got to say, it is quite impressive. Not so bumpy as to be uncomfortable for street driving, and the car is just solid as a ROCK. Body roll is extremely minimal even at high speed 90 degree turns.

1.5'' was the most I was able to lower the car without rolling the fenders in the front. Eventually when I throw on some wheels I'll probably do a fender roll, but I am happy with this for now. You can see plenty of room to lower more in the rear, but that would throw off the balance so I kept it equal.

Actually you should have less drop in the back. Equal ride height would upset the F:R weight distribution of the car, resulting in strange braking and handling characteristic. I would crank the rear up by 1/4 to half inch.

Looks great! I've heard good/bad about the BC so I'm waiting for the H&R springs or coils but I have a local teammate who has the BCs and loves them.

Btw if you want a cleaner place to mount your HID ballast, PM me.

Are the BC coilovers universal? In other words - does the same kit fit gen1 and gen2?

Coilovers aren't just about slamming the car to look cool. Function > Form (unless you're a gay designer, which is ok but just sayin') Slammed cars look cool but chances are the suspension geometry is fucked and the handling goes to shit because the roll center is somewhere in China.

I have BC's and probably ride higher than stock (lol), it looks stupid but it's what I need for now for the track I run it at. In fact I had to raise the rear trackside last week because I hit a bump and the shit rubbed hard core and pulled the fender lip out a bit. Had to bang the fender back in with a hammer and raise the car up. Such is life at the track.

BC's are ok. They lack suspension travel but otherwise they are taking the abuse of track work better than expected for the cheap price. I'm running a local time trial series and got 3rd in class and fastest fwd car for the day.

OP - the car looks better lowered, congrats. Watch out for sharp bumps, they hit the bump stops and rattle your brain.

What did you do about camber adjustments. I know they make Camber arms for the rear but what about the front?

car loks great the way it sits! nice work.

may i ask how long it took to get these after you paid for them? (trying to plan my coilover purchase.) I hate ordering things, then having it back ordered, or out of stock, etc.

Depends which Gen2, Some of the early gen2 have same rear lower shock as 1st gen, later ones did not. So to fit on some Gen2 you need to purchase a gen1 lower rear shock bolt. since BC had kept the wide rear lower shock size like gen1. The stock Gen2 rear lower bolt will be to short.

I am going this exact same route. 1.5 would be MAX drop for me. Clean up the wells a little bit, but NO slamming down. DD anyway.

Also you could go to swift springs on your bc coils with same rates, but the ride will be a ton shit smoother.
