Default Coolant Temp

This is probably a really dumb question and my searching leads me to believe this is ok...but I want to confirm.

I see similar situations regularly...but I will describe today's.

It was between 90-95 degrees during my drive home today. At around 60-65MPH the car was hovering between 199 and 205 degrees. When I got on a side road and slowed down to 40-45MPH, the temp then stayed around 198-202. When I got home, I just let the car idle for 3 or 4 minutes in the parking lot and it stayed around 198. AC was on the entire time and I do have a FMIC....Cobb's to be precise.

Now, my thoughts would be that temps at 60+MPH would be lower and would hopefully be close to the typical 190ish. Do others normally see a sustained temp of up to 205 while on a highway? Additionally, I expected the temps to rise noticeably when I parked...but they didn't.

Coolant level is good, has been burped to ensure no air, and has about 43k miles on it.

I think I'm ok but want to be sure before I drop in the CorkSport turbo and start getting tuned and junk.

I usually see 180-190 when running about in the summer with the occasional 200... sounds pretty normal.

Hot temps + FMIC core in front of radiator heating up and impeding air flow. You're fine.

For reference, I typically see 180 on the highway in the summer and 190 on the highway in the winter.

You actually need over 200 occasionally to "burn off" volatiles out of the oil. I have seen over 220 on hot days at altitude. Normal

I have never, not once, seen 217 even with my FMIC. How old is your MS3? Does it need new coolant?

2011 with 95000 km's
I could have been mistaken maybe it was only 212 or so I have a bad memory
coolant change wouldn't be a bad idea.

You have 16k more miles than me so about 26k more km's. Then again, while I haven't had a full fluid change, with the turbo upgrade about 50% of my fluid was drained and replaced with new.

My new engine hits 187-190 while crusing on the highway, but if I get stuck in traffic it goes up to 217 when the fans turn on. Stays there till I get moving solidly again.

Never had an issue on my last engine. I am built and run a tr1035 ic core. I'm hoping ducting helps, but I wonder if it's something more. The rad has 100k Miles on it
