Default CP-E Released driver-side/passenger-side Engine mounts for the GenPu

Just wanted to share for those who haven't seen.

So who will be the first to get these bad boys ^_^

Question for those in the know, if you get one, is there an off-balance situation where you're forced to get the other? Just curious ^_^

Anyways, anyone who gets these should post up in here to let everyone know the pros/cons etc....

Getting both = $433.62
Separate Purchase = $471.33

Passenger = $250.03
MazdaSPEED3 xFlex

Driver = $221.30
MazdaSPEED3 xFlex

Pricey :O

just remember the tq and vibs have to go somewhere so if you have one weak mount guess where all that is going. i personally would buy both at the same time.

on a side note, Fuck those are expensive

Ah, makes sense. Indeed pricey; I'm sure they're worth it.. even with the RMM i have from them, i notice engine movement =[

Fuck me man, I was hoping these would be priced to compete with the street unit mounts.

Looks like I'm gonna be either A.) saving up for a while B.) Not getting these or C.) buying some used street unit mounts.

I would pay $320-$350 for them new, but no way am I gonna shell out that kind of $$$ even if they are amazing and a half.

Quick review of the drivers side mount:

I installed the 75 duro drivers side mount last night. I already have the 60 duro CP-E lower mount. Installation wasn't the worst thing Ive done but it sure sucked. Getting the stud out of the tranny casing was a huge pain in the ass. Also the directions could be a little clearer about where to place the jack under the transmission. I had to readjust it a few times to align everything. Fitment was excellent and construction looks beefy and solid. Impressions: wow, this mount makes as much difference in the way the car feels as the lower mount initially did. Even with the lower mount I felt the engine had to much "lash", well the drivers side mount solved all of it. The engine feels so much more connected to the chassis plus I don't feel that it really vibrates any more than it did before. Now the bad: OH MY GOD the throw out bearing noise is unbearable. I hope that noise subsides as the mount breaks in because is extremely loud and annoying. Sounds like someone is sharpening a machete on a grinding wheel under your hood until you press the clutch pedal in and it goes away. Also you can hear the synchros winding up and down as you shift, reminds me a little of how a sequential dog box sounds. All in all I love the way the mount feels but hate how it makes the transmission sound. I will follow up when I have a few more miles on the mount. I wonder if the 60 duro mount is quieter.

Ok, so I've had the mount in for a few awhile now and it still rocks. The noise I hear isn't the throwout bearing but actually the input shaft winding up when the clutch is out. It is bearable but still annoying. Has anyone else with this mount experienced this noise? I'm going to go back and check to see if I have some metal on metal contact somewhere that is transmitting this noise through into the cabin.

I have the 75 RMM, but I'm thinking that I'll go with the 60 SMMs. I can deal with the noise, but my wife may not. Any additional noise after the trans warms up and out on the highway?

Lots of PB blaster and a pair of massive vice grips and a big ass hammer if the "nut on nut" method in the instructions doesn't work. Getting that stud out is a PITA just be patient and be prepared to destroy it in the removal process.

just installed 60 duro (recommended by josh-cp-e) RMM, DMM, PMM.
Prior to which i only had the CS inserts. Extremely pleased w results..minimal to no lash
and really tamed down the torque steer. Also agree w/Todd98se, getting some syncrho noise but not unbearable in my opinion.
CP-E is pricey, however machining quality is top notch.
btw....PMM install is a pain in the ass!

How long did the install take? Did you do PMM also? If so how long did those take to install? Did you use loctite?

Its been a couple months. How do you feel about them now? Does everything still feel nice and connected and tight?

I just installed the passenger side mount, 60 dur. Here are a few things.

Most people will probably know this, but do not use a 12 point socket. Way too much torque involved and it will fuck up the nut, but that's why they tell you to use a deep socket in the instructions.

The install took me about 45 minutes, pretty straight forward. The 10mm hole for the ground wire was drilled on the wrong side of my mount, but it really is not much of an issue. Although the instructions did not call for loctite, I used blue on the 4 17mm bolts to the frame and engine.

Vibration and sound is very noticeable, it might not be for everyone. My car rides pretty stiff and moderately loud to begin with, so it doesn't really bother me and my GF finds it tolerable (like she has a choice, heh). +1 on the throw out bearing noise. I am about to take a 500 mile trip, so I'll see if it breaks in at all.

Play or lash in the drive train is greatly reduced. My stock mount had just started to leak its fluid, and it was fairly noticeable when letting off the throttle abruptly while still in gear. I can't really comment on elimination of wheel hop because I still have my driver side mount.

Update:

Since the CP-E MM prices were going up I bought the passenger side mount at the old "cheap" price to complete the set. So now I have the 75 duro drivers side mount and 60 duro passenger side and rear mounts. As soon as I installed the passenger side mount today all the noise I had complained about earlier completely disappeared. No more synchro or input shaft noise at all. The motor definitely feels connected to the car now and I think the vibrations actually decreased with the addition of the thrid mount. So with the whole set I am completely satisfied. Another great product from CP-E.

^^^ Thanks for this update! I have the RMM (60 duro) and I'm about to drop the dime on the side mounts.
