Pretty sure the consensus was 2012 and newer *and* build dates in the calendar year 2012 only. My '13 shows no signs of SWAS (verified by log) using the press n hold for 6 seconds.

I remember seeing this about certain 12's and their build dates.
In a log, what are things to look for (signs) of SWAS kicking in?
I'm assuming boost and AFR.

That is the extent of what I've heard, not sure about retarding spark advance. I didn't have an AP when I first experienced SWAS, but it was blatant enough intervention that I certainly didn't need a log to feel the difference.

The logs I took with it disabled maintained full boost, 18.5* timing, and 11.8-12.0 AFRs as I was thrashing my way around highway underpass U-turn lanes. I brought my wife along to scare the shit out of her, was good times.

I am so glad to have seen that holding it disables it. Rather not hack up my new car.. SWAS is a bitch

Too bad that doesn't work on the '11 without tech package. Holding it just makes the everything permanently on until you restart the car. Pulling the plug is the only solution for '11 without tech package.

Does holding the DSC/Trac button disable SWAS for you?

Just another experience.

After reading here I was under the impression that on my 2013, holding the dsc button for ten or so seconds until the light won't turn off, would disengaged swas.

While tuning with @rfinkle2, after adding enough power, it became evident in logs and vd that swas was still active.

I have since disconnected the connector itself, as detailed in post #15 . It took all of 10 minutes and two screwdrivers.

So I did this just today, it works but my car is still running very rich when it should be targeting 11.7-8 during WOT but it dips down to 9 during WOT should i just add an on and off switch by cutting the white wire. I have a 2012 speed! this is annoying me haha

I am actually experiencing the same issue at the moment.

Rob seems to have figured out why and sent me a revised map this morning. If it resolves the issue, I'll let you know and have Rob explain the solution better than I can. Unfortunately, I'm stuck behind a fucking desk for a while yet. But I plan to get logs this evening.

EDIT- This issue is occuring on my e85 mix map.

Do me a favor and plug your SWAS back up after Rob has resolved your AFR issue. You'd be the first person I've seen with a '13 that wasn't turning it completely off with the 6s hold, and if you're still getting sub 10 AFRs with it disconnected, there's no way you can correlate the two.

I planned on it, partly out of curiosity, and partly to add information here. There are alot of varying opinions and experiences in this thread. It makes it tough to determine the correct solution. So more info could be helpful to others in the future.

I do plan to run it unplugged regularly. My dumb ass doesn't like to have to remember to hold that damn button.

And FWIW, I always had to hold mine for 10-12 seconds for it to take.

Just an FYI, when doing 3rd gear logs, even with disabling traction control or DSC/SWAS completely, because of the amount of wheel spin I would get (even a minor amount), it would cause my car to run rich, hitting around 10.2 - 10.8 AFR right around where the wheel spin would kick in.

I validated that wheel spin was the culprit. I tested the logic of doing a 4th gear pull, which would have almost no wheel spin, turned off traction control completely, and went WOT around 2500 RPMs. My AFRs were near perfect, between 11.5-11.7 under full boost.

I also tried doing a 3rd gear log to see if this would change my AFRs in 3rd, and with it on or off, I got close to the same rich AFRs

Which method did you use to disable it completely?

My logs have all been done with 4th gear pulls, no wheelspin except the few times roads were wet and I was being impatient.

Sorry I meant to say stability control and not SWAS. From my understanding, holding down the button for 6 seconds disables stability control and traction control completely.

Well, @rfinkle2 resolved my rich condition issues via ATR. I will let him explain it, so I don;t sound like an ass-hat attempting to.

I will reconnect SWAS and try the button method again after Rob finishes revisions on my e85 map. I'll update my findings on the button vs. connector disconnects then.

Well I'm headed out for those test logs now. So we should be able to answer the disconnect questions in a few days.

My bad, I've been meaning to do it, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'm putting in a new tmic tomorrow night, then revising maps with Rob. So I'll have to get logs in this weekend. I'll bring a screwdriver and reconnect it for a pass or two then.

I have a non tech 11. So what's the difference between pushing and shutting dsc off vs. holding it, since that doesn't disable swas? is there a different mode between pushing it off vs holding? When i hold it in the dsc off indicator comes on ,then after the 10 sec. (seems like a long ass 10 sec. Lol) it shuts off. You said that makes everything permanently on did you mean off? my car drives like the dsc is off even though the indicator light for it is not on. Freek said I was getting some erratic afr's on my 3rd gear logs and swas was freeking out. we were going to start from 4th gear to avoid some torque steer and wheel spin. he just sent me a map so we could try and get some clean logs, and then it fucking snowed so now I have all winter to decide if I'm going to do a toggle switch or just unplug come spring...

Let me save you LOTS of frustration and time: Disconnect SWAS and be happy. Drive MS3 the way it was meant to be driven! No artificial barriers!

haha alright fair enough that will be first on my list after winter. Still curious if there a difference though between holding and pressing dsc?

Default SWAS - DISCONNECT ON A GEN2

I unplugged SWAS, but my clip was red color not orange.
My BSM/AFS lights are blinking constantly while driving. The light closest to the top on the RPM cluster stays lit too.

I have a 12' tech

Ze' 2010 does not blink. Just sits there with the power steering + traction control lights on. I have grown accustom to those being lit up...as well as my check engine light for the DP lol. I have a christmas tree dash.

Geoff, if you have codes, I can kill them for you. I'm always concentrating on the tables and forget the code deletes.

Oh nice! I just have the typical DP ones. When my car comes out after the winter, I will let you know which codes need to be masked. Can the power steering + traction control lights be masked as well?

Maybe I missed this along the way, but if you unplug the orange plug does your PS still work? I accidentally disabled my PS while driving once and it was a bit heavy for my girl arms.

I lost PS on my 13 when I disconnected it. Not the end of the world.

The power steering will only go out intermittently for a few seconds in parking lot speeds (1-5 mph). I've never had it go out while not moving.

To me it's not a big deal, but it bothers some people. I say its totally worth it to have no SWAS .

My BSM/AFS lights are blinking constantly while driving. The light closest to the top on the RPM cluster stays lit too.

The wireing on 12 are a bit different for the tech package and the blind spot and turning lights use the same plug. If it bothers you u can simply just add a switch on the wire only for the swas.
I'm planning to do this for @killer-ms3; since his dash looks like Santas enchanted forest.
