So I got my box today. I am impressed. It looks great for a first run production box.

The goods-
1.Packaging was excellent...copious amounts of foam peanuts and the box itself was wrapped in celophane to keep peanuts out of interior.

2.The fiberglass construction is nice and thick, and he even painted it black to match the rest of the carpet...yah you won't see it but for OCD guys its a plus

3. The box is polyfilled already...perfect.

4. Even includes bolt that you will need to attach box to car, with hole predrilled in box for perfect fitment

5. Fitment was perect. Nice and flush!!!

Needs improvement

Really and truly, the box is great and will function flawless I am sure. Since we are looking for an honest unbiased review, the area that can use a little improvement are the finishing touches.

1. The carpet glue did not hold around the sub mounting portion of the box...no biggie, 2 minute glue fix.
2. The sealant on the connector area in the rear of the box is messy...again...no biggy, its not visible and works just the same.
3. The carpet is not one piece...Now, this I can't really complain about. JT told me that he tried to use a different carpeting technique on my box than he did on his. He told me his gf/wife said it did not come out as good as the 1 piece carpet. He told me when he shipped it that if I received it and did not like it, that he would redo the carpet for me....but honestly I could give a shit lol...to me the damn thing is perfect, and my box is staying put with me

Overall, I can't thank JT enough for making me this box. We exchanged countless emails concerning the box and the design over the course of a few weeks. In the last year I have contacted many different folks about a Gen2 box. Some said they would make it, some didn't respond...but in all instances everything fizzled out. JT really stepped up to the plate. He R&Ded the box design until he was sure he was satisfied with the result, and it is evident in the box I have in my hands. His communication was great, and he kept me updated throughout the entire build process, without even having a single penny from me. It is hard these days to find a man that will trust your word, but JT trusted I would pay for his work and I trusted he would come through, and he truly delivered. Thanks again bro. I hope to have this installed within the next month. I need to finish up some sound deadening and some amplifier crap first.

Also I will be wrapping all future boxes in a single piece of carpet. There will be some minor wrinkles but those are mainly on the backside where it sits flush with the hatch wall. I wasn't joking Mike, if you want it wrapped before final install I will take care of it just lmk.

No need to re-wrap, i'm totally happy with how the box is. I just wanted to review it like I was a "critic" because some are more picky than others. I am easy to please, and in this instance, I am very pleased

well whenever @J-Liss is ready I would then have a gen1 mold as well to start working with. Unless any other gen1 locals want to let me borrow their hatch space for 3-4 hours.

Humm...I think a 10" is pushing it....I found a few that only need .6-.7cuft, but not sure how much the polyfill increases what the woofer "sees"

Polk Audio MM1040D - Needs 0.66cuft, 4-9/16" TMD
JL Audio 10W1v2-4 Needs 0.625CuFt, 4-7/16TMD

I even thought MAYBE one of those shallow mount ones would work.... but this one needs 0.7CuFt!

boston acoustics 10 inch g series only takes 0.5 cubic feet on a sealed box. No idea about the sub quality, but it's what I was going to use in a very small box size in my old car because of the low air space specs.

If you mean the BA G310 that has a mounting depth equal to the JL audio 8W7 so the MDF face would stick out 4" off the hatch wall. To be honest I don't even think a 9"+ cutout would fit with this shell but I might just try to get my hands on this and see what happens....

If you go down to the G110 you get a mount depth of 4 11/16. Its prolly shit quality compared to the 310...but its still an option. Honestly I haven't looked at the specs on your box; I just saw someone mention air space and I thought I'd throw this out because of the stupid low space requirement for a 10".

For sound quality I'm not sure you can beat an 8" in that tight of a spot, but if someone absolutely has to have a 10" then the boston acoustic may be an option. From looking into it several years ago it was the only option for a 10" under seat sub for my old scion.

A few rules of thumb: Stuff small enclosures - those with up to about 3 cubic feet of internal volume or less - with 1.5 pounds of fiberfill for each cubic foot of internal volume and you should get about a 30-percent increase in box volume without seriously affecting other performance variables. For larger enclosures, add stuffing at a rate of approximately 1 pound per cubic foot and you should get a virtual-space boost of about 25 percent.

I think the above post may be right, A good Quality 8" with plenty of power will have better sound quality than a hacked in 10"

My 8" solo-baric will be in Friday and hopefully start to piece together the rest of the goodies. I will be running Focal Comp in the doors and a 5 channel digital JL in the rear to save on space. Keep me posted if you need more info about the speak dimensions @JTMS3. I will be happy to write a review as well...from a square point of view. lol

I'm @ jt's house he is mocking the gen juan up we started @ 11am and its 340 and were about 90% done with making the mold only so there is a lot of time needed for one guy to do this I had no idea.. He is very picky on how he wants his products to look and perform. And lots and lots of time I mean lots of care and precision in his work so I can't believe he sells these that cheap with labor and materials...you da man jt. Also I went with a 10" sub a 12" just takes up to much space and that was the point was to get space back.

I will post a pic tomorrow by the honestly the gen1 mold looks great so the shell should come out just a good.

Since I figured out how to may the gen1 fit a 10", if anyone in the gen2 area would like to stick with a 10" sub then it is doable. You will just have it poking out a little more in the hatch.
