Default Help Please

Whats going on guys, got a little bit of a problem. Installed a JBR stage 2 oil catch can this past Monday and ended up breaking the pcv valve. got a new one that wednesday and got it all fixed. In the process of changing the pcv valve im sure most of you know the intake manifold had to come off. Test drove the car for about an hour after everything was reinstalled and triple checked and the car ran perfect. drove the car to work and back Thursday and Friday (120+ miles combined) and still good.
Friday night I did a quick pull onto the freeway up to about 78 mph then let the car slow itself down and set cruise control at 70. I noticed after about a mile the mpg's said 40. I thought there was no way, then it went up to 47, and I was still maintaining a speed of 70. I thought there was something wrong so I hit the gas a little just to see if mpgs would go back down and the car had no power and starting sputtering. Got off the freeway luckily only about a mile and half from home and a guy in an sti pulls up next to me and said there was black smoke coming out. The car was able to make very little power just to get me home. I had no check engine lights come up. I didn't know where to start so I just uhooked the battery for 15 min. and reflashed my map. tried to start car and it immediately shut off. uhooked battery again for 5 min, started her back up and ran perfect. drove around for 30 min and problem started again but this time as the car was slowing down and I put no acceleration on it, it had a huge backfire and shut off. I brought my tools with me so I unhooked battery again for 5 min, then started car and it was perfectly fine. went to a gas station filled up and ran fine all the way home. Yesterday drove the car around perfectly fine probably anywhere from 70-100 miles on it and no problems. this morning I started her up and immediately had problems. Did the same thing as last but this time It wasn't working. Flashed a cobb stage 2 ots map and car started running fine. shut the car off and loaded my freektune back on and car was fine. just drove around for about an hour doing a few pulls and no problems at all. As of right now the car is fine but I feel like its going to come back. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences with this. Ive been searching since Friday night all over but no one seems to have the same symptoms. Ive checked everything on the manifold and I really don't think the occ would cause this. any help would be greatly appreciated, honestly considering trading in car if I cant fix. I really don't want to because of all the money and time spent into it but I really don't want this problem. I was not able to get a log of driving when it started but I do of the it idling horribly.

That was hard to read. Looks like your fuel pressure is failing. I am sure your failing pressure is the cause of your problems. Do you have upgraded FP internals?

Also, keep in mind when your fuel pressure drops, your ECU will start commanding extremely rich AFR's to help save the engine. This is why the guy saw smoke coming from your pipes.

This could be an in tank fuel pump issue and starving your high pressure fuel pump of fuel. what power mods do you have?

Sri, tmic, catless turbo back exhaust. Other mods in signature
I forgot to mention that i did get a code this morning for fuel system too rich bank 1 p0172. I read that could be the first 02 censor, but I think it's weird that's it's only happening sometimes, think I should have it changed?

Take a log with the KOEO. And check to make sure you are getting good fuel pressure from your tank.

Anything is possible, but how would a bad O2 sensor cause your fuel pressure to fail? Best to make sure you have adequate fuel pressure before anything else.

Thank you. I should have been more clear. The log should be with a cool engine. Sorry about that.

Ok, I'll try and get one first thing in the morning. I did just take it to the store no problems at all. It is hot as fuck here in AZ so hopefully it'll cool down before I have to go to work.

Now log a cold start?

Edit: You issue is a strange one, I will admit. I'm still pondering. I hope you don't have a leaky injector...

Cold start. Ya I don't know, I know its hard to tell right now because the car is running perfect. I just don't like driving around wondering if its going to die on me like the other night.

I think I figured out my problem but still need help. car drove fine for last 2 days until tonight. got a CEL P0192 Fuel rail pressure sensor Low input and HFPF said 0 and didn't move witch I know its not true because car drove fine and idled fine but once you step on it no power. I'm 99% sure its the High pressure fuel rail censor. Can anyone confirm? ive searched and that's what it seems to be it unless you guys can think of anything else.

Does anyone know where I can buy one? Ive read dealers will only sell you the whole fuel rail and all I have found is this which I am scared to buy: C5037 High Pressure Fuel Sensor 2007 Mazda 3 Speed 2 3 | eBay
Any Thoughts?

Here is a log with the car off showing 0 in the HPFP column and once I unplug the censor it jumps to 2000+ then I plug back in and 0

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Alright guys got her all fixed and running now! If anyone experiences similar problems as I had this could be your solution. It took a few days for the proper CEL to pull but that's happened to me before with other issues.
If you get a P0192 its more than likely your high pressure fuel rail censor. I got lucky and found Used on eBay for $25. Dealer will make you buy whole fuel rail $500. I found new ones on eBay for $75 but they were in Germany

@aems3
Is this what you purchased? Seems like I’m having the same issues.

If you get a P0192 its more than likely your high pressure fuel rail censor. I got lucky and found Used on eBay for $25. Dealer will make you buy whole fuel rail $500. I found new ones on eBay for $75 but they were in Germany

FWIW, my fuel pressure would peg 2000+psi intermittently. It ended up being a broken wire in the harness at the crimp resulting in 0 volts reading.

The ECU displays 2000+psi when there are 0 volts and 0psi at 5 volts.

Intermittent 0 psi reading would imply the 5 volt Vref signal is shorting out to the 0-5v signal return either in the harness or in the sensor.
