Default Odd Vibration from 2012 Speed3

Hi guys,

I took a look at a 2012 Speed3 w/ Tech package yesterday. Has 93000 miles. Got compression tested at 82000, everything looked good. Everything is stock other than having a damond rear motor mount and Damond tranny mount.

I went to drive it yesterday and everything felt good, other than having some weird vibrations in low speeds. As soon as you get up to speed, it clears out. Checking out the forums it looked like this naturally happens in Speed3’s, the motor mounts just emphasize it.

I saw you guys talking about how it’s a combination of gear lash, dual mass flywheel noise and vibration, and throw out bearings? The vibration is pretty intense.

Just wondering what your opinions are here.. the cars from Georgia, so no snow, no salt. Clean title, no accidents. Seems pretty well maintained. Guy wants $11,000. Is this normal with these cars? Not that it annoys me, I just don’t wanna buy something that has problems is all.

Thanks!

The vibes are probably from those stiff Damond mounts.

I would get a new compression test. Not related to vibes, just something you need to know.

That is normal. On my 2012 they show up from about 2500-3000 rpm. And as msms3 said, having mounts will make them more apparent. Especially the tranny mount.
