Default 88/88/80 Trilogy Review

Got the mounts in with excellent shipping time! Took 2 days to ship. Packing was excellent. Everything arrived in good order. Nothing crazy, which is good because who wants to pay extra for a fancy box that's going to get thrown away? Anyway, off that tangent. Got the license plate bracket and a couple stickers along with the mounts and my shift knob (which was awesome also, btw. Shifts so much smoother). I unpacked everything. Nice finished parts. Everything was solid and clearly overbuilt for its purpose. Looks like it should last forever. I came from running a CS RMM, which was well built and performed at first, but in the last couple months really took a turn for the worse. In comparison, these seemed built for more rigidity.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. I installed my trilogy mounts last Friday and have now driven them ~200 miles. The install wasn't very difficult at all. Took a bit of time, but I was being careful. I also wiped a lot of things down because of the salty Wisconsin roads (blah). Overall, the install of all 3 mounts took me about 2-2.5 hours. I went easy on them for the first couple hundred just to break them in. Went back and re-torqued everything to spec. I can say torque steer is GONE. The car drives so much smoother when you downshift. And that's another perk, you can bang those shifts like butter. As expected, the motor moves less and hence allows for more precise shifts. Wheel hop is eliminated. I did a few 1/4 mile passes on my AP just for comparison on a nice straight road pre-install and then did a couple post-install. Temps were within 5* both days. I know the AP isn't very accurate for these times, but I figured it would at least be precise. That should give me a good comparison. I strongly need driver mod, so cut me some slack haha. The times speak for the mounts. I ran a 14.6, 14.9, and 14.8 on the stock mounts + CS RMM. I ran a 14.3, 14.1, and 14.2 on the JBR Trilogy. The only other mod done was the addition of the JBR shift knob. So if you break that down, you are shaving ~.5 sec on your 1/4 mile time.

And on to the "bad". I hear a lot of people complaining about vibes. Some guys don't want to go fully mounted because their wife will complain, it's their daily driver (it's mine too, btw), or their ass simply just can't take it. Upon install, the vibes were bad. At idle, it wasn't too bad. Around 1.5k-3k if you get into the throttle a little, it gets vibey. After driving the ~200 miles, it's already slowly starting to go away. So I will expect by 1,000 or so it should be much less noticeable. I will update this post at that point. I would say at ~200 the vibes are tolerable. Obviously, they are there. But things aren't feeling like they will vibrate apart anymore.

Overall, excellent product Jamie! Exactly what I was looking for out of these mounts.

Update: Vibes are dying. At ~700ish now.

I'll be doing 80's for my side mounts here shortly to go with my 88 rear...can't wait!

Thanks for the write up...it's always nice to read such nice reviews for an awesome vendor.

I need to say these will not eliminate torque steer. In fact I wouldn't even say it reduces it.

My car will still fight me especially in the lower gears.

Man up! And I'd argue they did. Not completely. But to the point I don't had to put the car in a headlock anymore.

They really don't. I'm not sure why anybody thinks it does. Even when I was closer to stock power levels it would make it's presence known especially aggresively coming out of a turn.

On the track I never had issues with torque steer with stock mounts. I don't see how the mounts should tame torque steer and from my experience they don't.

I feel strongly about it enough that I would be willing to put this to a test. I know someone with stock mounts we could do a comparison.

Idk man. Taking the same turns, driving the same way I get a lot less torque steer and a lot less wheel hop. I'd be down for a comparison though!

Less wheel hop, if any, I agree. I'd say it virtually eliminates hop. I noticed that at the track right away.
@El Beaner; would you mind humoring this comparison with your stock mounted car to my fully mounted car?

Don't mind at all. What / how to do we want to compare?

When I had the jbr rmm wheel hop was very much under control. Torque steer was still there(but I had stock pmm and tmm).

I will add that the car I called "obnoxious" on the trilogy has calmed down a great deal. If I had to put a number on it I'd say it's 10dB quieter (that's a shitload) at highway speeds and no more foot tingling vibes in the floor board after a couple thousand miles.

Just ordered the tranny and passenger side on 88/80 duro. Was hesitant at first to go hard on the mounts, but based on this thread, glad went that route... BTW my RMM is CPe Stage 2...

Just so you know we haven't forgotten. We're getting together for an install tomorrow and me and @El Beaner; will do the comparison.

Not sure where we're going to do it just yet, but I believe @jbmazda6; said he'd bring a go pro.

This will be far from scientific. I'm not going to be putting up any charts or graphs, but we'll find some way to roughly measure it.

This will be far from scientific. I'm not going to be putting up any charts or graphs, but we'll find some way to roughly measure it.
I've been waiting for someone to do this. I very much look forward to see the results. If a trade-off for reduced, to non-existent, torque steer is more vibes, that's one I might be willing to make.

I love how much tighter the car feels, shifting through the gears feels. Vibes have diminished a lot, as well. Rear-view mirror is still at times pretty useless. lol

Installing today.... looking for a lot of vibes with these but who cares if the car is going to be planted to the ground better... might need to adjust my KW V3 coilovers to tame down the wife's reaction to noise and vibes.... will let you all know how it feels with the CPE Stage 2 RMM
