Guessing there is two versions of the Cobb FMIC?

I know turbo cars like to blow off couplers, that design just seems like it would do it rather easily.

I would say just build the Gen2 off the tr6.. Tr8 and Tr6 have the same width of 22" anyways and the mounting points would be very similar if not the same. So customers who want the TR6 can bolt it up and witht he TR8 they can trim and cut to fit.

Just with the Tr8 the intercooler measures at 7.8" tall vs the TR6 being 6". From the bottom of the plastic tray flat surface to the crashbar is around 7.5".

I think any FMIC would need trimming of the undertray.

The Corksport design isn't as intake friendly tho. I don't think my 3.5" WP would fit with that routing

This! If you make it for the tr8l I'll probably get a kit. Because I'm a JBR whore.

Jaime,

If your piping kit was comparable in price to the CX racing kit I would jump all over it. My CX kit is slightly offset towards the passenger side which looks a little odd, and might be because we custom fabbed the brackets, but it also rubs along the intake manifold where the TMIC stud was welded.

Also I did a lot of research on this forum when deciding on which core to get and I believe that building a piping kit designed for the TR8 would be a great choice.

I'm pretty sure minimum trimming is required on the pu for a tr8 core, but it is required, from what I remember it is to thick to fit behind the factory crash bar, and a half inch or so needs to be trimmed off, anyone wanna chime in on that?

^^^^^ These two right here.

There's not a chance that a 3.5" would fit with that kit, and if I remember correctly, it's designed to work with the CS intake.

Yea, there is about 3.2" of room.

I hope the guy that suggested the silicone FMIC piping at least gets a chance to beta test it

Im thinking like this design. Close to the intake mani, and plenty of clearance for big intakes. Is this not a cobb FMIC?

TR8 core would be perfect!! +1 It will require a little modding to the oe crash bar, but @JTMS3; made it work good with the oe crash bar.
The TR6 only supports 400HP
Also sorry to get off topic, but I just called Treadstone and asked about a group buy on the TR8 core. A guy by the name of Tony is helping me.

Wrinkle Black & polished piping please
@maisonvi; the picture with the hot pipe passing close to the IM and by the BPV pipe is the Cobb MS3 Gen 1 FMIC setup

I will buy as long as it doesn't use corksport routing. (long and in the way in my opinion.)

The bottom pick is most definately not. What vairys between the original kit and retrofit kit is to avoid a couple problem areas. Yet both kits run down the driver side. The hot pipe drops down right next to the cold pipe.

Someone is free to correct me if I'm wrong. Also COBBs hot pipe at the turbo outlet is strait and used a 90' coupler to make that bend.

EDIT: I thaught you were talkig about the quoted pics. The COBB ones didn't load so I did not see them! My bad

my suggestion is to make the metal parts for a tr8L but provide long silicones to connect to the end tanks. If someone has a tr8L they trim the silicone, if they have the standart tr8 they leave it alone. fits both popular cores (and the tr6) and is a single fitment.

I have a tr8L and did my own piping so I have no need for this. I think my suggestion may hold a bit of merit though.
Rokusek likes this.

Tr8 gets my vote. I planned on getting a tr8 core to go with my cx racing piping but if you start producing kits I would definitly go that route.

I'm in for the suggestion to try and accommodate both tr8 and tr8l (as I have the "L" )

Jamie you should go one step further and offer an option to go blow-thru maf. I would buy that in a hot second.

Tr8 would be fine with me. I'm still saying a partial silicone kit where the major bends off the end tanks are silicone until they reach a major straight area.

Sorry for the terrible angles, but I was running the Corksport FMIC with a 4" HTP SRI. It was a tight squeeze. Had to add a heat shield to the filter due to the proximity to the pipe.
I was running their 24x11x3 intercooler.

I'm not in the market at this time but I'd vote for the TR8 despite having a Pu.

Without being able to get my hands on Treadstone's drawings it appears the tank couplings are in the same location relative to the bottom of the tanks, only the core/tank is taller on the TR8. Pics from their website at least appear as though that should be the case.

I have the ability to clearance the existing cross member or fab a new piece similar to what UR offers so I could care less.

@jbarone;

If you make a TR8 with Black Crinkle Piping, Red Silicone, and Black Clamps, and use a few couplings as possible, and make it close to or less than what the CPE FMIC would cost me, I will send you my money instead. I have been wanting a CPE FMIC but I don't like the piping options.

Also, I am running a Stage 2 OCC and a 3" HTP intake, so would also need to work with those if that is an issue...

This would need to work on a GenPu and I would assume that modification to front crash bar would need to happen...

@jbarone; +1!!!!!

One thing to add for consideration is that most of your products are "made for off road use," so with that being said a crash bar would be a great future upgrade to the kit. I read already that you have no interest in it, but It would allow big turbo guys to be able to stuff a tr10 core if they so desire. Unfortunately now the community is stuck with the UR that doesn't work for most folks because of the threaded hole it does away with behind the bumper for the relocated license plate. Cpe does not sell theirs alone, so if this idea flourishes, in the future it may be something to consider as there is limited availability and definitely a market for it.

Another thing to consider as a future upgrade to your piping kit, would be making a blow thru MAF set up on the cold pipe. It would save most the headache of adding multiple couplers and fiddling with different pipes to make a decent set up.

Just my 2 cents.
