bad news... rounded the top right 12mm ps bolt. no room for a socket and you have one shot with a wrench. got too used to all the dainty 8mm bolts and should have let these soak with pb blaster. don't know if there's enough room for a craftsman damaged bolt remover.

got the ps bolt to turn using the #4 bolt remover and some more pb. will re-attack next weekend. my only remaining fears are hulking the ps pump back into place and that black electrical connector.

When putting the PS pump back in place grab it by the pulley; real easy to do.

Installed both TIGs on Sunday with help from @Geo13. I just wanna say how amazed we both were with the detail of the instructions. Then again, I've never seen anything less than thorough from JBR, so it was to be expected.

Didn't experience a single problem.... except for my own stupidity when I dropped a socket into the radiator. Thank god for magnets!!!

For us slow people Jamie, We can stack 1-4 with out any extra parts as long as we follow your instructions. If so I'll be ordering EGR and TB and 2-4 Mani Gasket kits.

Yes up to 4 with no additional hardware.

Just a word of caution when using more than 3...In step 24 it says to loosen the 2 rear fuel rail cover bolts. I would suggest removing them, then complete the remainder of the installation. Then reinstall the 2 rear bolts ensuring that they line up and thread in properly. If they don't you can remove the front 2 fuel rail cover bolts, and enlarge the two rear cover holes with a file or drill until the bolts line up and thread properly. It's super easy. You can leave the rear two bolts out if you wish as well.

Thanks,
Jamie

It seems to me that using a hose barb for the bypass is a waste of time when you can buy 2 feet of 5/16" hose for less and not have a splice.

You're actually buying the gasket and getting the caps and barbed coupling for free. That Pretty cheap.

Nothing is "free". You presumably would charge a buck less or so if it didn't come with the barb. But I know you give good products and good prices. So its not a big deal. I think I'm more saying, in general, don't splice hoses if you can just as easily not.

I just ordered an intake mani tig. How does this compare in thickness to the 1/16" thick gaskets? Did a google search but it says its some weird number like 31/500????

Bump.

I wish I hadn't waited this long to install the tig (for the intake manifold).

Initial look @ BAT's show @ least a 10* drop in the gap between BAT's and IAT's.

@skeurton, I may even get really ballsy and put 2 on!

Well, hate to be a spoil sport, but, do you actually have any dyno reads to back that up? I rather doubt you do. On one hand, yeah, I think it is indeed generally worth it to have. Particularly on our cars. It does dramatically lower apparent BATs. But, the change is 99% apparent rather than real. The issue is, on our cars, the BAT sensor is attached to the IM. So, a hot IM raises the measured BAT a great deal. But, in reality, the air contact time with the IM is negligible and therefore actually transfers negligible heat to the air.

So, it is kinda neat how dramatically cooler the IM is after installing a gasket. And it is good to improve the accuracy of the BAT. Which could possibly lead to some performance gain. But if you think you are actually lowering your BAT (as opposed to mearly lowering the readings) then you are mistaken.

What was I thinking?

since every running parameter of this car is based off of sensor readings, I'd say having a lower BAT reading would be almost more beneficial than actually having lower BATs. So yeah...by your own admission they're pretty useful.

Fair enough. But, many people think they are actually getting lower BATs. If, indeed, the more accurate measurement does result in more power, then great. But, I'd still like to see the claim backed up. Jamie just stated it like it is a fact that you will get performance gain. Perhaps you and he are right and you do. Fine, great. But, do you know that for a fact if you haven't dyno'ed it?

Well either way it works. If it cuts down actual heat or just helps cut down the amount of heat that actual reaches the sensor. The BATs the sensor reads are less which leads to more power. We all know that high BATs kill this car power wise. Thats no secret.

@jbarone Count me in for a order!

Don't get me wrong, I think it is likely worth having, and I have one. I currently run one "from another vendor" but only because I bought it before Jamie had his.
