MS6 Short Shift Plate

Well, over the past 3 or 4 months I've been working with JBarone as a test mule for this shift plate. Last week was the breakthrough week and we finally got the finished product on the car. From putting several hundred miles on it, I can honestly say that this is how the car should have come from the factory. It's a shorter throw, a very clean, crisp engagement and made me excited all over again to get out and drive the car. Unlike some other similar products out there, there are zero clearance issues, zero rubbing issues, and the part is extremely well made. If anyone has considered purchasing this type of product, I would strongly urge you to buy JBarone's plate, the quality is just far and above anything else out there.

It is done and I'm currently in the process of powder coating them and packaging.

The "Break Through" Evolved speaks of is simple actually. You all know I've now fitted the MS3 Short Shift Plate with a stand off that eliminated the boot rub. Well...This was the solution for the MS6 Short Shift Plate too. Originally I was trying to over engineer a solution for the MS6, but as it turns out all I needed to do was take a simple approach. So the MS6 Short Shift Plate is similar to the MS3. The only difference is the throw is 33.5% verses the 38.5% for the MS3. The quality of the kits are the same, It will include all the same Stainless Mounting Hardware, and Counter Weight. I do apologize for the long wait for these kits but sometimes good things are worth waiting for. I expect to begin shipping later this week.

Also, what exactly is the purpose of the counter weight? I removed my stock weight completely and it's great... Just curious?

I should be ready to ship in the next 5 days.

The purpose of the counter weight is to better match the stock feel. Using the stock counter weight will cause a bang and some rebound when going in to gear. When the radius of the shifter arm is reduced (Using a Shift Plate) the speed increases. When you bring that increased speed to a sudden stop it bangs and wants to bounce back. It's just too much mass in motion. It will feel much more notchy with no weight at all.

I will know later this week if this combination is possible. I'm leaning towards not because it didn't work with the MS3 but just to be sure I will be testing it anyway.

TWM Stage 1 shouldn't have issues, but I could see how a Stage 2 SS would cause issues.

Don't forget to grab your Heavy Weight knob as part of the package for the ultimate feel in the shifter.

Forgive my ignorance, what is the difference between the short shift plate and say a stage 1short shifter? Is is just how/where the change is made? Are they in essence the same thing?

OK, the short shifter replaces what the shift cable attaches to inside the car, the thing you actually put your hand on and move to change gears.

The shifter plate is attached to the OTHER end of said shifting cable that is on the transmission side under the hood of your car.

I hope that helps, but its two different things that will essentially do the same thing, just in a different manner based on which side of the shift cable its being used on.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking...From the looks of it, it seems that Jamie's plate is simpler to install to achieve the same thing and would be a no brainer, but can anyone play devils advocate and say one "method" is better than the other?

depending on the short shifter you also get a lower height on the shifter itself. Pretty sure this can be achieved somewhat with a different shift knob tho. I think its more of "to each his own". I already have a short shifter, but still want a little bit shorter, so I'm going to try this as well and see what happens.

My earlier post in this thread seems to be gone. But, I also have a TWM stage 1 and might consider also getting JB's, if it seems like it works well together. I got the stage 1 and not 2 because I did not want to lower the knob.

We should know in a couple days I'd imagine (and hope!! fingers crossed). I think either way regardless, I'm going to order it and try this with my setup. If it doesn't work I have the perfect guy in mind to give it to (stealth...this might end up being your second mod haha).

Good news...This is being tested with the TWM Stage 1.

I had a long phone conversation last night with the fella who has it on his car.
His words "it's great", and "really short". He did mention that more effort is needed but he expected that and so did I. He also added that even though a little more effort is needed that it felt "smoother" to him.

I would imagine that it will work well with the Stage 2, but there will probably be a little more effort needed due to the shortened shifter.

I should have an opportunity this weekend to witness it installed with a Stage 1.
I'll let you know how that goes.

I should also have the website ready and taking orders this weekend as well. I'm one guy doing all of this and I hate to rush and make mistakes so I appreciate you all hanging in there.
