That's what I need. Someone around me who has one broken in. Anyone in socal want to volunteer? Just took my car out for lunch with some of my colleagues and the vibes were just embarrassing. My whole cabin was rattling like a motherfucker. I know it's a new mount and needs time but I want to have a semi comfortable car. I'm going to check the torque specs when I get home, could be that my mount is loose.

The 88 settles in real well.. Just give it time, and I'm sure you're NOT going to sell it!!

Sent while being stupid.... What else is new..

I'm going to let the mount break in for a couple of weeks and if it doesn't die down enough I'm buying one of these new mounts and sell my 88 molly.
I installed the JBR 80 duro RMM a few weeks ago at the last NATOR meet and at first I was pretty shocked at how intense the vibes and cabin noise was too. But really dude it does go down when it starts to break in.

I've only driven my car about 600 miles max since I installed it and I don't really notice it anymore. I only feel some vibes way down in the low RPM range and then its as quite as stock once you get going. The vibes and stuff are only going to get better the more miles I put on it. Granted there will always be some vibes but I'm sure it won't be too bad.

Since you got the 88 duro RMM, I imagine the vibes would be worse and would probably take longer to break in. Although I wouldn't think it would be that much worse.

Did you get the 80 molly or the first model?

I don't know how best to describe the vibration. It's almost like my car is a ringing cellphone on vibrate. I guess I'll wait and see after the break-in period. Should take me a month plus since I only drive 100 miles a week. I think JBR is worth the wait.

Vibrate, yes, but it shouldn't "rattle". Then again, I have all 3 mounts so I never had the 88 RMM alone.

Patience, dude. First 500 or so miles are rough. You should be expecting that. Next 1000 miles are better. After 1500, you'll barely notice it, and it'll continue to mellow. I've had mine for about 3000, and while I know it's there, it's not punishing like it was when I first installed it (and you're experiencing now). NVH went from a 7/10 to a 2/10. And no more engine banging around or wheel hop, which is ultimately your goal with a RMM.

The other thing, from what I hear, is that you have to make sure that you installed it exactly as the directions say. If you do it in a different order, you could end up with more NVH as a result. Reinstalling it correctly remedies that problem.

I had a corksport motor mount (not the inserts) before this one so I'm not new to mounts. I'll wait till all is broken in, in a couple of months and see where everything stands. I'm sure it will be fine.

I did launch yesterday and was very surprised by the decrease in wheel spin. With my corksport I could get the wheels to stop spinning in first and second. With the JBR 88 I had some spin in first but it went away quickly and I had almost none in second. That was pretty cool.

FYI, I installed everything exactly like it said in the instructions.

I think you'll end up liking it. I really only get vibes sometimes at this point. I was going to say that I can feel it with the A/C on, but today I forgot that I had it on and couldn't feel at thing.

Looks like everyone is enjoying the 80 and 88 mounts, but I was thinking of going with the 70s. Can someone provide information as to whether the 70s (I'm going to get all 3 mounts) are even worth it. My car is a brand new 13 and, to be honest, I'm not having many problems with the stock mounts. I won't track this car or launch it, just want to be sure the car hits each gear like it's supposed to when I shift at redline.

The 70's would be great for what you're trying to accomplish. The 80's will give more head room should you decide down the road to track the car and launch more. Hope this helps.

fyi, I don't redline the car...I meant shift at the appropriate rpm. I know going passed 6k is pointless on a stock car. Don't want you all thinking I'm a newb.

Thanks, it does. So with this revised design, we shouldn't see premature wear or anything. As with any one of my DDs, this car will see all sorts of weather conditions, etc. Is there advised maintenance for these mounts?

You should see no premature wear from our mounts and there's no maintenance required. Follow the installation instructions, check them after a few hundred miles and enjoy.

My car is a brand new 13 and, to be honest, I'm not having many problems with the stock mounts. I won't track this car or launch it, just want to be sure the car hits each gear like it's supposed to when I shift at redline.
You're going to be amazed at the difference between the stock rmm and JBR's stuff. Even if you don't do anything aggressive, it's like night and day.

(Also, consider at least the 80a mount. I have the 88 and it's not very harsh at all, once it broke in.)

Good luck!

I just installed my jbr 80rmm today and all I can say is WOW! It's great and really improves the car. I was skeptical about NVH, but it's honestly not bad and no where's near what I expected. I actually kinda like the vibes, but to know its going to have even less once broken in is a plus because I don't mind it now. Next two mods will be jbr 80 passenger and tranny mounts, even though my cars complete stock otherwise lol I just like the thought of being fully mounted

Glad you like it. I bet by now there are little if any vibes from it?

I have 1500 miles on them. No one complains, car drives smoothly and feels nice and tight. To be honest, I recommend getting the whole mount set vs getting a more aggressive rmm. My car feels a bit sharper with the 70a than the car I drove which only had an 80a duro rmm. Plus all my mounts will wear evenly.

I'm asked that question a lot. Is there less vibration with a full set of mounts or...?

Anyone?

I don't even notice the 88 RMM anymore, I will let you know what I think once I add the 88 TMM and 80 PMM.

I put on the 88/80 combo and after the break in period, there is still some minor vibes, but things only "rattle" around 2-3k. The PMM still vibrates my rear view mirror and I've had the mounts on since June. That'll never go away.

I had more rattle when it was just a 70 duro RMM.

Also, the tranny whine is either gone, or I just don't notice it anymore. I was very pronounced when I first put on the TMM.

Got ~7000km (4500miles) on a set of 80's
Rear view mirror vibrates and if I get it JUST right (wrong?) there is epic vibrations on no throttle deceleration from 2800-2400rpm.... But it's extremely hard to replicate deliberately.

Other wise my only complaint about them is we have a lot of 60kph (37mph) and 100kph (62mph) roads here in Australia, and sadly in a gen 1 that's 2500rpm in 4th and 6th respectively... This transmits lots of noise into the cabin.
60kph is easily fixed by going into 5th, but it's a bit unpleasant at 100kph in 6th... 110kph is fine (2700rpm)

With 88 RMM, 70 TMM and 70 PMM, ride and NVH feel perfect for me. Very slight rear view mirror shake blur, but not like you can't make out the shape behind you being a car. Slight steering wheel shake only with AC on. TMM introduced the only strange noise in the transmission chatter with clutch out at idle.

I changed a year ago from the discontinued JBR aluminum frame 70a RMM and stock TMM/PMM, and the vibes were quite a bit more, but not in a solid way.

I feel like the vibes with A/C on are negligible. Nothing like the rattle at that sweet spot @SarcasticOne mentioned.

In my opinion, if you're trying to squeeze every bit of performance out of the car it's a non issue. I got more joy out of the car after I put mine in.

Everything @Cheapspeed; has said is spot on. There's that "sweet spot" at a certain RPM. 70's all the way around and put them all in at the same time. Only things that's hasn't settled is the clutch out in neutral you get that transmission sound. Just the sound of solid connection

But to Anwser the question I don't think vibes were extremely noticeable.

I have to decelerate at just the right speed, ie 3s to go from 2800-2400rpm
Do it in 2.9 or 3.1 seconds and it's fine... As I said it's extremely hard to replicate, and I've tried a lot... All I can think is I'm magically hitting the exact most unbalanced points of the rpm in just the right way...

Put the 88TMM and 80PMM on last night. Can hear the transmission clearly but I don't notice any more vibes over what I felt with just the 88RMM.

I will say the car almost felt slower but faster at the same time. The motor doesn't move at all so the car stays flay and smooth while using heavy acceleration(why it feels slow).

To describe it in geek terms, it's like JBR gave me inertial dampeners for the car so it is just pure acceleration.

I've had 70 side mounts for 9 to 10 months and coming on 20k miles. My dash sounds like it's going to rattle apart, my sun visors rattle, door panels rattle, hatch rattles, both side mirrors rattle, glove box rattles, shit in the center console rattles, rear view can be unusable at times, and I'm very tired of hearing my transmission. Also if I'm coasting near 80 in 6th and give it just a tiny bit of gas the whole car goes into a death shake. If you're as hypervigilant as I am I do not suggest these mounts.

Everything is very planted but the mounts have not gone unnoticed.

Glad I went with the stiffest mounts if the 70s shake that bad, I notice no extra felt vibrations, my rear-view mirror shakes no more then it already did(and I have a 360mm broadway mirror) and my side mirrors don't vibrate. I do hear a vibration from the broadway mirror I didn't hear before. I actually feel less vibrations when starting my car, letting it idle with the AC on and when taking off from a stop at a very low RPM.

Now the transmission noise on the other hand, you can hear that loud and clear if you have the windows up, if you put the windows down it isn't as loud. Getting on the gas you can really hear the motor and trans but I like the sound. It also helps me keep from driving how my wife hates.

My wife rode in the car yesterday for the first time since putting the mounts in (all of 15 miles on them) and she commented on how my car was making funny noises. I told her it was cause of the cold and once it warms up it should go away. When I installed my 88RMM she thought my car was broken. At this point with 15k miles on the RMM she doesn't notice it at all. She also didn't notice any extra vibration at all with the side mounts freshly installed. I'm hoping the noise settles a little and/or she just gets use to it by the time it gets warm again.

Either the car is a POS rattle trap or something is loose. You should not have anywhere near that kind of vibration going on. I would inspect them.

I'm pretty sure it's my car, I've always had some vibrations but it's getting worse and worse over time. The dash and door panels really went nuts with the mounts though. All bolts were torqued and loc-tited so I don't believe they're loose.

Just because you don't believe they're loose doesn't mean they aren't loose.
