Arrow New Product Release!! JBR Reverse Lock-Out Gate Guide (07’-09’) MAZDASPEED 3

The JBR Reverse Lock-Out Gate Guide is essential if you own a GEN 1 Mazdaspeed 3. After only a few thousand miles the OEM plastic gate guide will show wear from dragging the reverse lock-out peg. This wear is caused by the sharp reverse lock out peg being dragged against the guide during normal shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Once the wear begins slop in the shifter becomes even worse than when the shifter was new! 1st and 2nd gears are the two most often used gears and wear happens fast.



Significant wear of the OEM guide can lead to there being no reverse lock-out. This can lead to a dangerous situation for the driver as well as accidental costly damage to the transmission.




The JBR Reverse Lock-Out Gate Guide is constructed out of .125" indestructible stainless steel plate to protect the OEM plastic guide. The sharp OEM peg has no chance of digging in and wearing through it!



The added .125" also reduces the side to side slop in the shifter and makes shifting in to 1st and 2nd buttery smooth again.
The cost of replacing the whole shifter cage runs hundreds of dollars. Now, there's a inexpensive solution that comes with added performance.

Hey Jamie, after helping @Quigs; install his short shifter and Reverse lock-out gate and feeling how smooth the shifting is I decided I had to order them as well.

I was waiting for this to release in hopes of getting the shifter combined with the lockout gate at a slightly discounted price.

Are you planning on offering them as a package deal?

Great work on this setup, It is night and day over even your ssp and more so over the stock setup.

God damnit JBR, I just cant stop ordering your shit!

Itll go nicely with my JBR short shifter, the plastic is noticabely worn away but not through.

Indeed, when I installed my short shifter I noticed I was just starting to get that little ridge where the pin rides. I don't know what the hell Mazda was thinking when they came up with this design. Better yet, ill just blame it on Ford.

It is like Mazda knew that the lockout gate could be a weak spot, so they put holes there in anticipation making a possible recall cheaper and easier to handle.

Funny you should mention that. I saw in the product pictures there were already threaded holes there so I went out to look at my car and sure enough there they are. That's kind of strange.

I just installed the reverse lockout plate. I can get into reverse on the first try. Also I haven't accidentally shift it to 1st gear thinking it was in reverse. It feels solid shifting in reverse.

Any chances of making this, the short shifter, bushings, and a heavy knob all into a set? Looks like I am about to make the jump on all of this in about a week and a half and make it my first install when I get home from deployment.

Just curious if anyone else has had "issues" getting into first gear after installing this plate?
I needed to double clutch to get into first gear half the time and never had to do that before the plate. I uninstalled it and I have no problem with first again. Thoughts? I wonder if it moves the shift lever just a little too much to the right, but I don't know how much forgiveness there is in that mechanism...
