True, 350 on stock motor is probably plenty. I'm sure you don't feel like dropping $3k just to be back where you started.

Getting the turbo off sounds like a real bitch if you are that against pulling it off....not lookin forward to when I start tinkering with stuff...

its not horrible.... JCMS07 and I pulled mine off in 2hrs flat .... just tieed of working on the car, I just want to enjoy it.

If I had more time to work on my car I would go BT myself, but I just dont have a) the time, or b) the ability to have downtime on my car for the inevitable glitches along the way.

So I am living my BT dreams through you lenny.

I know the feeling. That's why I bought my soon-to-be MS3. It's in perfect working order. I put in so many hours on my other car for problems that kept popping up. I had to pull the turbo off of my SVTf 5 times and it was never fun. I got faster at it, but....still sucked.

Just gonna be oil, meth, and gas for me for a little while.

it really doesnt take too long....keep in mind this is my ONLY car.... this is why I am also super cautious, I can't afford to blow this shit up. I think through the stuff we have learned from others, if the turbo doesn't make gobs of torque down low and the user has common sense I think the switch to BT can be done with fairly few glitches.

after seeing what I have seen I do however invest 30 min porting the iwg on the ATPs.... but then again.... if you want to run 13psi why buy such a big turbo for it...lol we have to consider that inherently the 3071r is going to run happiest between 20-22 and the 2871 between 18-20 etc etc... so porting the IWG is being done only to increase the versatility of these turbos and NOT because there is anything wrong with them.

as lenny said...its easy with the ATP setup...as close to bolt on as you can get.

My car is my DD car and I too can't live without it. IIRC the turbo install was a late night and one full day for hardware installation....and tuning was ...well a bit longer but driveable for sure...LOL

nah just fine tuning my boost was the only issue and I have done it..Lenny and Christian are about to do it, so for the rest of you it will be cake!

I feel confident the GT3071 will be the most popular setup for this platform for a long time.

after a few maps r developed all u gotta do is copy the set up. and i think u r right about the 3071...for those looking for a solid street car i think its the best of both worlds

I have 35K and drive the chit out of my car with the GT28 so stay tuned...LOL

..oh GT28 has been on for 6K so far...*knocks on wood*

well my car i think will always be on the lower spectrum of what is possible with any turbo because of the miles etc, but that is still valuable information for people to see what the lowest they can expect is......(i think an honest 350-360whp is more than doable with 20psi)

if anthony dynos close to 400whp then that will let the ATP fans know what is possible with the 3071r on the upper end of the spectrum.

the great thing about this turbo is that we are all running no more than 20psi and still have 22 psi to really bring in top power (if we r willing to do the map sensor swap)

and i am still looking at egt s and they are always at least 200 degrees lower than with the ko4.... so if that is not a reason to argue for longevity i dont know what is

Lenny do you have an egr delete and intake mani spacer yet? Those two things help alot.
Oh and I plan on hitting that 400whp mark or atleast close. Im thinking 385-390whp is more like it. I dont wanna go over 22psi so thats gonna me my limit.

no they cum separate.

the IM spacer works as I have it on my car and monitored DH for BAT and IAT before and after.

the chicken wire screen actually comes on some cars in front of the maf to straighten the flow.

was johns necessary for us..? I dunno but it does help some cars, it's not like he was sellin it for 100+ i think it was less then 20.

so there is some merrit to getting an IM spacer or it just keps the sensors cooler???

I guess if you are already planning to take the IM off the spacer wouldn't be bad but I don't think it would be worth the effort just to have the spacer...no?

yes...those lower IAT's and BAT's mean something other then the sensors being kept cooler..lol

it helps... before hand my IM would be pretty hot to the touch with just the spacer it aint so bad..

EGR delete is a snap with ATR being able to delete it now. I'd do what "that faggot" was selling and cap off the IN end of the EGR tube, reinstall and call it a day. As oppose to mangling the EGR tube or capping both ends.

dude........it never rains in socal and since friday its been nonstop...and i mean nonstop.... until thursday morning. i cant log, i cant floor it i cant do shit.... all i can do is wait...and by the time it clears up it will be christmas and ill be still with no tune.

nah...ive ran 20psi on the mbc already.... its fine, map still has super low timing and rich afr...... but it creeps to 21.5 and at wot shifting it boost cuts....so until i can tune ebc for 20psi across i can only run about 19psi on mbc

if you want to install the intake spacer, which is actually a working part(!), you have to remove the egr tube as it will be too short and it doesnt change shape.

my egr tube fits, with the spacer on...I don't know how, but it was not an issue that came up.

"Pull a lenny"

A term originating from MSF.org, when lenny127 replaced his K04 OEM turbo with a brand new K04, and then within a couple of weeks decided to go "Big Turbo" and bought and installed a Garret 3071 turbo instead.

Example
"Hey philly, did you hear about FreeFly....... he pulled a lenny"

Definition: "pull a lenny", to make the decision quickly and out of the blue to go BT with no prior indication or warning.



Oh, and the example is just that an example........ I have not "pulled a lenny".......yet

well , if u must know. i wasnt gonna swap shit originally....but i saw anthony (driver311) put up a new 09 1k miles ko4 for like 3 bills or so.... i couldnt pass that shit up. so i bought it and sure enough my ko4 was cracked.

then all is well, and idk i guess i was bored or simpley ronery from going to an empty bed all this time and felt i needed something of meaning in my life.... i heard a 3071r would fill such a void.

and shit it worked!!!!!!!!!!
