Got the egr re-tapped, and it's completely solid now. I also hooked up the HKS ignition (will relocate power box later), and finished rigging up the Perrin Pro in interrupt mode. So now I just need to order the 3 bar map sensor and plug. Tuning soon...

A couple of the rides at the shop that tapped the egr for me (one of these things is not like the others, lol):

I ordered the Bosche 3-bar map sensor, and plug earlier today from the links in Jumping Jackson's thread:

Bosch 0281002437 - Bosch T-MAP Sensors - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Home » Shop » Connectors / Harnesses » Bosch » 4-way sealed Plug Bosch BSK Connector Pigtail for Bosch MAP Sensor

I should have those sometime next week, and I'll install it as soon as I can, and then get to tuning. It'll be nice not having to worry about blowout. I have a map with the scalars for the 3-bar, so I may just stick to the boost based map I have now until I get the 3-bar here, and installed.

Doug, I figured out the crank sensor errors. It's in your idle and start up part of your MAF cal. From roughly 1.5 V down you are either running way rich or lean. My car was acting like it wanted more fuel at idle. I was seeing +25 at idle in this cold weather since I put on the 35r. I gave it +25% and it started pulling it back that much then. I've been throwing the crank sensor code ever since installing the 35. I decided to cut it 15% and she is happy now. Very minimal + or - changes now across the board. Well below 5% total. No more code. Not sure what plugs you are running, but the 2 step colder do funky things below 40* with your AFR's and fuel trims.

Cool, that's probably my problem. I had intentionally thrown 20% excess at idle before when I had the egr leak, and I thought I had pulled most of it later, but maybe not. Then I didn't want to mess with it at all until the ecu was 'ready' for emissions. That's simple enough though to fix though, and I'll take care of it after I get the new map sensor. It's it Boston, so it should be here tomorrow, but the plug is lagging. Thanks for the heads up!

Don't know about Doug, but I only get it from boostcontroller.com anymore. Their hose quality is the best I've experienced. I order in bulk and keep it around for when people need it.

I hooked the mbc back up for the winter. I'm going use the Perrin with the 3-bar in the Spring, and I'm just going to keep things simple for now. I went down the Cape to see some friends for the night, and on the way down I broke down, lol. I swapped the Hallman back in, and was in a rush to leave Boston. So, about 80 miles later, and I'm boosting it up hard. I shift into 3rd, and no power. I just start slowing down, and had to pull over, and the car died. It won't turn over, and no cel. I pop the hood, and see this, LOL!!:

So, it took 2 seconds to fix, and everything was fine. I took a couple 4 gear pulls on the highway on the way home today. I need need to pull a few % fuel from like 3.6-4.3volts, but the rest is all within 1-2% of 12.0 afr target. 2 logs in attached spreadsheet. Car runs good. E85 soon.

Strange place to come apart. Was the coupler just loose?

I put the 3076 back on today. Fixed some piping that was pushing on my bumper. Put in a new EGT probe because the first one was jacked. Drained my OCC that had to be completely full. Took the car for a spin and realized I totally prefer the 3076 to the 35. Just way more streetable for normal use. 35 is too slow to spool in the 6 when we always have traction.

In my haste to beat traffic, I didn't tighten the t-bolt clamp holding the intake on, at ALL! lol I just hooked up tightened the recirc hose, plugged in the maf, and closed the hood. I'm surprised it ran as well as it did all the way down, and going wot a bunch of times, haha.

Thanks for the review of the 35. I wasn't planning on going 35r or anything, but it's nice to know you like the 76 for a DD.

I'm going E30 this Wednesday as I have to drop my gf off at the airport anyways, and that's where the E85 Gulf is located, and it's the closest to me (7 miles). I'm going to add 10% fuel to my maf, put some miles on it, take some logs, and adjust. That shouldn't take long, and then I'll move onto timing. I'd like to get her tuned soon as there's a dyno meet coming up in a few weeks.

Thumbs up 1st E85 Logs Below...

I filled up with 4 gallons of E85, and then topped her off earlier. To adjust my map, I added 13% fuel up top, tapering to 5% more around 100g/s or so. I added 3* timing as well, so I'm starting out with 14* up top, which it hits np. Nothing crazy, but this is just a base map, and I could only run 11* before with no kr @25-26psi.

I've only driven about 12 miles on the map, so it still has to settle. I only did one pull by my house (2nd & 3rd) so far. My wot afrs are a bit rich, but not too far off actually. Once the map settles, I'd do a maf g/s log, and cal the maf up to 125 g/s or so, then do some 4th gear pulls, and dial in the top of the maf. After that, it's just a matter of adding some more timing in until she knocks, then back off a couple degrees. If I can run 17-18* with no kr, I'll just stop there.

Any suggestions for part throttle timing, and timing in lower load values? I've read that retarding timing earlier can help spool up, but I'm not sure how much and I haven't messed with that before. 4th gear logs coming soon.

EDIT: Did a full 3rd gear pull from 2,800rpms up. Looks good, just a bit rich. I'll lean her out soon, and then I'll start adding more timing. I'm a bit concerned about upping the boost, as I'm sure my IDC% will go up further past 100%. As long as it's under 120% I'll be happy, lol.

Yeah, I'm running Boost Juice (50/50 mix) with a D010 nozzle. So, I had already pulled over 10% fuel up top going up from the D07. So, that bought me some headroom moving to E25 (4 gallons per tank). I'm at just over 100% IDC now, but I was a bit rich, so I had to pull from 2-10% fuel from the maf, after adding 13% to start with. So, the new map has the fuel pulled from the maf, and I'm running 16* up top. I guess we'll see if she knocks, and what the afrs & IDC% look like.

In that case, you still have some injector to spare, haha. Looks like you're on your way to over 400whp, sweet.

Oh, and about Boost Juice. I was at Vatozone today and Heet was $2.30 a bottle, so I'm gonna start getting Boost Juice and cutting it with a little water. 25% meth is all I need. It will be much much cheaper than mixing Heet.

Thumbs up E30 4th Pulls, and VD 433/431 SAE @32F

Here's a few 4th gear pulls. She pulls hard at 26psi, especially with all that extra timing. Here's a couple of Virtual Dynos (1st at SAE for 32F, and the second one without):

SAE @ 32F

Not SAE:

Alright, so you're running 30% e85, and it takes ~26% more e85 to make the same energy as gas...so 30% of 26% is 7.8%. Max airflow is 435 g/s, so if you were straight gas, it should be 401 g/s.

Does that sound right or am I retarded? That's assuming your MAF is scaled correctly, but that's some good airflow

That sounds about right. I'm having other issues now though :/

Clutch Vibrating for a bit when engaged

I explained it to Skate's, and he said not to worry about it @superskaterxes

Peculiar that the ecu is retarding the same amount of timing regardless of rpm...

This isn't really the proper strategy when running an e85 mix. It's best to find mbt on the dyno. I'm gonna read your other thread on vibro-clutch mod nao.

Yeah, I planned on renting dyno time later on, and was just going for something close on the street. And yup, I'm gonna have to start up a build fund. I'll see if I have any parts kicking around that I can sell. It's going to take awhile to get build funds together though

There are options for budget builds, but they seem to always turn into full builds. It's just hard to justify "cut corners" on something as critical and expensive as a forged motor. Your lucky you caught it early enough though, cause now all you have to fork out for is the price of the internals and some machine work. Had your rod come completely loose, you'd have to tack a short block (and possibly a head) onto that price tag.

It sucks. But if you get through this, and take your time and do things right, you'll end up with a bullet proof bottom end in a few months. Lemme know if you have any questions, and i'll try to help as best i can.

Good point, and you're right. I'll do some researching around here for a bit, and see things look like. I was planning on building the motor at some point, so I guess now is a good a time as any. If I can get her on her feet by late Spring, that would be cool.

Did you ever do the quick height test at least to check and see which one is down?

Correction... I brought a unicorn into FL and it's staying here

I'm not going anywhere hombre. Loving south FL... where do I need to vacation? Though I do have a close friend in Maui and a place to stay... hmmm, lol. Next on my list is the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification... I just need to take the exam in November, which will be a good chunk of work and time, but will pay off. Stay in skool!!
