Is this a dumb idea

My speed6 is fully bolted minus an exhaust manifold. I am split between 2 decisions. 1). Stay with the Hypertech and bump psi to 18-20 with mbc (currently @15ish). Or 2). Sell HT and pick up a GT3076 and run it untuned (15psi). Will I notice the increase in psi with the HT? Which setup will most likely net more power. And or is this just a dumb idea!!!! LMK thanks

To answer your question the answer is FUCKING YES. It is dumb. Forget the BT if you want your motor to last any longer (beyond RIGHT NOW.) Lose the fail ass Hyper tech tuner, and get the car tuned right now. DO NOT consider BT until after that. Unless you plan on going BT getting supporting mods and getting an AP all at the same time.

since I'm in the process of installing a BT, i'll tell you, you have no idea the expense involved. And if you're installing on stock downpipe, fail for you, bigtime.
plus, no fuel pump upgrade? no tuning method? No injector seals?

since when did i say i had a stock dp? and no hpfp internals. I've got catless dp and kmd v2.1's. Go fuck yourself

And actually, myself and others have had great luck with the HT. And yes people have turned up the boost a bit with great success. Sorry I wasn't able to afford an AP when I picked up the HT, my bad.

It's $200 more than a HT with infinitely better capabilities. Hmm. I would have saved up. But unlike yourself, I'm not a fuckingfuckfuck (thanks to @zpele).

just turning up boost on HT tune is asking for trouble...but at best not ideal at all either. It sounds like it's tuned for 15psi, you turn it up to 18, 20 psi, it's not exactly 'tuned' up in those load ranges....so basically now you are looking at untuned k04 vs untuned GT3076....fail both ways.

Step 1 get a real tuning solution, like the Cobb AP. Then I would learn the ropes of tuning on the K04....play around a little. Then figure out if you want more (GT3076) or not.

OP..........aaronc7 gave you excellent advice. Please take it. Yes some people have done alright with "hypertech"..for guys wanting alittle more power with couple bolt ons, it seems like it has its place, but thats it! The Cobb AP is a FULL tuning solution. Its not even a fair fight vs the HT lol. You can change all your fuel,timing,boost,wg,load,ect everything with the AP.

Based on your opening post I would have to say you have alot to learn about this platform. ALOT.

First you need to sell the ht and buy a AP, I would not feel very comfortable running a near fully bolted car without a good tune, sorry HT tune is not good. Just cranking up the boost and not setting other ecu tables to adjust for that boost is wrong idea. Right now your going in such a wrong direction and have been going in a wrong direction for quite some time.

Start reading around this forum..search search...their are some great articles about tuning on this car.

^^^ try this for starters. Also are you running a upgraded fuel pump? thats generally a must once you start getting fairly bolted...just monitor your fuel psi at wot...should be 1700+ but anything below 1600 isnt good..and if your below 1500 buy a pump asap.

Hows your afr right now? are you monitoring knock? these are some questions that need to be anwered...who knows how your car is running without knowing vital car engine behavior.

Last but not least...dont worry about the 3076..a well tuned k04 might surprise you, and its better to walk before you run. After you have informed yourself with much information and got a AP..got your car properly tuned, and your running well..then you can go from there and decide to go BT.

I do belive HT is for people wanting to go no further than intake/TIH. especially considering the only mod options for the HT are CAI and SRI.



Good luck OP but if you continue this path, and don't start listening to what ppl are telling you... You are going to have a new exhaust port
