Yay I have another Paperweight in my Garage! I don't want a product with glue on my fancy big turbo.

Will you be replacing the glued can with the revised welded one for no charge?

I understand the top is welded but thats not the sealant that ended up in my hoses. The largest piece I have found yet was from one of the mounting bracket screws. Is there a revision of this sealant aswell?

Here is a picture of the bottom of the can aswell (hard to tell but its bare steel)... do these ship uncoated in the lower section or has the paint been pulled off from the chemicals it is exposed to?

I wonder if this could potentially cause an issue over time, hell, even oil pans rust out.

Haha, sorry! Not trying to kill the sales for Corksport either. Just trying to make sure my issue never becomes an issue for anyone else. I severely hope they're going with a new sealant. They should have my OCC back by the end of the week.

i had a discount when i ordered mine. Otherwise i'd have a DYI OCC

i don't understand why you're so insistent on buying the CS OCC. just freaking buy it or don't.

Basically, yes.

I don't care if its teflon paste, NPT fittings or different mounting solutions as long as that glue goes away. Thats some nasty stuff and I still need to find time to take the rest of the tubing out and slice it open to check for more glue. Not looking forward to seeing what my TMIC looks like if glue got in there.

That looks like something I would've made in highschool. Still have mine sitting in the closet, hasn't been installed, maybe they'll let me return it.

I ordered mine right before reading all of this and received an email their almost done with the upgraded catch can. Not sure I'll buy any Corksport prod again because after I ordered mine I received an email saying it is backordered and is being fixed...I asked for free upgraded shipping or something thrown in for free(calendar) but was ignored and still waiting for my products...thanks

lol, you're not satisfied that they didn't give you a freebie after they didn't sell you a malfunctioning OCC v1?

FYI, from personal experience and what I've read they have to back order quite often. This isn't walmart.

That's not why I'm "mad"...I ordered my OCC and received an email saying they were backordered before reading this topic. Everything was supposed to be here by yesterday...still hasn't shipped. Upgraded shipping when it is finished could have been a nice gesture or even a heads up they were backordered on their site would have helped too.

Whoa....thats awful....no wonder cans were blowing their lids. Plugged up inlets/outlets would do that. I hope corksport fixes this and removes the glue from all parts of the OCC. If they do I'll gladly order theirs.

What crap. How could they have possibly thought that was a good design and release it. Then it fails and they hint that it was user error, you ask for a return and they deny you. You then plaster it on their thread and other people that have had failures come in with pictures and now they give you store credit.

Just return his money so he can buy a JBR can.

I bought another can before they even said they would give me store credit, haha. Just not installed yet... right now I'm just running an open breather zip-tied to the hood release cable behind the headlight until I have a chance to install the new OCC.

Figure worst case I buy a Forge V2 BPV

@Joel@CorkSport;

Sent Kelly an email (referencing order 2405006) a couple days ago but I'm not sure if she got it. Last week my email got hacked and sent her a SPAM message so I'm not sure if my message went to auto-SPAM, lol

I spoke with Kelly yesterday. I was assured that a glue free welded can will be sent. I will post a picture when i get it. Calling would be better. Her email is probably full and if she is like me it will be a while until it gets sorted thru. I like Corksport so if the can comes back good then i will continue my business with them.
EDIT: Someone else posted pics. My can came back air tight and glue free. My trims are back to normal. So far.

After speaking with Joel@Corksport I'm confident that the updated changes will make this can perfect. Went ahead and ordered one this evening.

What was the time period for this "manufacturing challenge?" I havent had a chance to install the second can I recieved in Oct yet, long story... But the first can I have is still holding up for now. How long will you guys be honoring this warranty exchange or whatever is going on with the defective cans?

Very happy with the stuff I've got from you guy's so far. Great customer service.

OCC looks real nice. Might have to install it this weekends.

Lol, I have heard that before from my own wife. She just gives me funny looks when something looks a little different on the car.

Greetings from Australia. Mate and I just bought 2 and I only stumbled across this thread. Luckily ours are welded and when ordered was advised there was a backorder as well.

Can anyone confirm if the YouTube video installation is still correct or the new method? I don't quite understand the new method or are the instructions now correct?
Cheers

The installation is the same with the welded cans.

Got mine in yesterday...It was like Christmas early, or late I suppose. Even though it sucked waiting, glad everything is all taken care of properly now and not having to wonder about the what if's happening. At least in regards to the OCC.

At 500 miles since install, I decided it was prime time to empty my press fit CS OCC and see what had percolated through the system. The results were exactly as I expected. The can was hella full of a wonderful cocktail of stink which was accompanied by a few pieces of loose sealant/glue.

I'm patiently waiting for my replacement can to arrive.

Did OCC can install yesterday. This showed up hour after, cleared it, and it came back again today. My Idle AFR is about 15.75. Is this meaning that I messed up the catch can somehow? : mazda This thread Refback 06-28-2015 11:23 AM
