| Not Ranked : 0 score Because And because... is it true? I haven't found instructions for it but if you look up "HKS SSQV maintenance" or "HKS BO maintenance" on Google you get lots of hits. The manuals for every other one I've looked at, including the Cobb one that they claim minimizes maintenance, suggest periodic maintenance. Except the Synapse ones who don't address it in their product manual at all, only in the FAQs on the website. And they still sell a rebuild kit, which makes me not really believe the claim that it never needs maintenance or whatever (having a long maintenance interval is not the same as never needing maintenance, though there might be an interesting debate here between what counts as normal part breakage from use/wear vs. maintenance). But theoretically neither of the Synapse ones, including one that is already included, has that same advantage. At the very least, IF it is a claim made by HKS on their website, it should go in the section for the HKS with the rest of their marketing claims. These threads aren't intended to suggest or sway people to any given thing, just to show the options and duplicate their marketing claims. Speaking of which, it is actually one of my beefs with these threads that they reiterate the companies' marketing claims. Marketing claims are usually useless and often times just straight up incorrect.

Remember that the order that I quote is based upon actual purchase volumes as seen in signatures / profiles. The OP quoted HKS first because that was his purchase choice / bias. HKS may require no or less maintenance, but it is typically more expensive and thus, I believe, not the first choice by this forum's members. I will update my post (Synapse DV, etc.) when I get back to South Africa. I am still travelling across the US at the moment.

I don't give a crap about the order in which they are presented. No fucks given. I'm simply suggesting that if you want to remove the OP's bias for this one product, you need to remove this statement. It sounded as though that was a goal based on your exchanges with Raider. If that's a no fucks given situation, then that's fine. Just pointing out errors and updates, as is requested for these threads.

However, upon my return, I will remove, "Good thing about the HKS is that this minor maintenance isn't required."

Anyway I didn't want an argument in the first place and considered anything I posted more a logical discussion. And BTW, I'm still OK with the statement, just not where and how it was presented. If you want to put it into the HKS section, and put a similar statement on the Synapse products (for example), and/or any others to which it applies, I'd be fine with keeping it. I just want to keep things as truthful and non-confusing as possible. Modifying this car, and making one's way around this forum, is difficult enough as it is. BTW, I wasn't intending to complain about your work @Inquisitive;. I've enjoyed your updates and contributions to the forum. Also I knew about your travel from other threads in which I've made suggestions so I wasn't expecting fast action (nor was it needed in any way).

| Not Ranked : 0 score @aackthpt; I don’t think that I was the culprit in "tu quoque" or didn’t intend to be anyway. Keep up with the additions. After driving 4,100 miles through 17 states and visiting two other states, I could finally return to my own much missed bed and even update this thread. If you are satisfied, then Raider can update the OP.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have not read through everyone else's comments on here, but I just put on my HKS SSQ BOV and I have to say, the Torque Solutions flange is a POS! Could not get my snap ring on and I had two others helping me. Thankfully I had ordered a 3P Perfomance one as well and it worked like a charm! Also the Recirc hose plug from Torque is super tight. Does not fit well at all and I think that is because they decided to put a lip on either side of the plug. wtf?!? Im going to eventually just remove that recirc hose since I'm VTA now and just plug from the other end. Anyway, just a little advice on the adapter flange if anyone runs into the problem Great write up btw!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Okay, so I have been searching all over this forum as well as online in general and cant find an answer or post about what I did. I was purchased the Turbosmart Dual Port Maz Type 5 BPV / BOV Combination as a present from my brother. I see in the list of of BOV that this does not work with stock air box because the BOV is big and will not fit. I got it to fit by unbolting the screw that holds the stock air box upright really close to the original BOV. how bad is this to do? I don't really see an issue because all hoses are fine and the air intake box is just sitting a little lower than normal. My car is running fine and I plan on upgrading the CAI, but is this okay to run in the mean time? My car is stock other than the BOV and I know people say not to get a BOV on a stock car, but it was a gift and I've always wanted a BOV. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score hey guys, I just bought a 2013 MS3 and it had a turbosmart BOV on it. I've been driving it for 2 days and kept hearing a "pigeon" type noise aka flutter. I thought oh shit compressor surge. I looked at the BOV and noticed it wasnt opening! So long story short I took it off and the piston had a little corrosion and wouldnt open and hasn't been this whole time. I got it all lubed up and am finally getting that psssssssh noise, yay! Any advice on tuning it harder or softer or where that sweet spot might be? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Idk why this website is filled with nothing but douchebags... Having a forum and posting is to get help and all anyone does is talk shit. Your speed already has a BPV and is not meant for a BOV. I have a BOV on my 2011 speed cause it was a gift and I see no harm done. I am already over the psshhht noise so I would advice against and put the money towards something else that will add power. Eventually a BOV has the possibility of damaging your car so all and all not worth it. I also did not get a tune done when I installed my BOV. |

And the first mod of his was deleting the resonator (sound mod), and now he wants to change the BPV (because sound). So in a "performance" based car, he cares more about sound , instead of performance. To each his own, but calling him a ricer isn't incorrect.

I just don't understand why people take the time out to read the post, type out a response, and the response is just shit talking. Yes it was a noob question and yes a BOV is rice as fuck and I'm saying that with one in my car right now, but like I said. I'm over the noise already and I'm gonna make it recirculating soon. And the search system for this site blows chodes. But yea. He should've at least tried looking.

But fact of the matter is that people on here don't help for shit. I'm not a noob anymore, but I'm sure as hell no expert and I could use advice from people on here that know more, but id rather figure it out on my own than ask and get nothing but "learn how to search you fucking idiot" when I've done nothing but research since I got my damn car.

| Not Ranked : 0 score we can't ignore it because that fucking question pops up everywhere. if you're really interested to on learning anything, read the God damn stickies in your gens forum. they give more than the first few steps towards treating your fucking car right. trust me, the stickies are chock full of great info that we children have amassed over years of ownership.

| Not Ranked : 0 score so I've been doing so much research on building my mazdaspeed 3 safely. i want some nice gains but i don't want to run into any issues. motor mounts, transmission mount already bought. cobb sri, cobb tip, corksport fuel injector seals. nothing has been mounted on yet. gov has been my next approach including cobb ap. great write up on this thread. been thinking of the his bov. but as you were writing about bov's with maf. bov has to be mounted 12'' from the throttle plate and maf 6'' from bov. my question is are there any additional parts id need to make the install with those specs. or should i get rid of the maf. thanks in advance. I'm still new to this site. jay |
